hi i have been into rc's for a while and want to get a rc bike. ive thought about making my own custom one, but then i saw the nikko electric. now i know this is a pretty bad quality rc but i was wondering if there was a way to upgrade it like those ricky carmichael bikes. i saw that it is 1/5 scale and has a 380 size motor. soo has anyone tried this or will i have to be the guinea pig, or is there another bike out like the ricky bike that people are starting to mod? thanks for any info, dominic

Dominic,

With an idea and enough ambition there is always away to accomplish what we want.
An example of that, is what I had thought of trying and took the chance of doing and it turned out very well. If you haven't already check out my thread "The purchase has been made!! conversion begins"
Chris.

it's been tryed before with the nikko, the plastic gears will melt/strip as soon as you try to put a more powerfull motor in. Theres a new MX bike out the ARX540. I built afew homemade bike's. one im doing OK but not great with one in the UK moto5 nationals. You really need a donnor bike to get the dimention from before you can scratch build one.

Thunder Tiger do a Ducati in either electric or nitro versions, both can be upgraded into competitive racing bikes. They come in a box with all the basic stuff ready to just charge up and run.

The ARX does at first glance seem expensive, but having seen the kit and quality of the parts it is justified,it also comes with first class build instructions which are usually very poor quality with the Italian bike kits.
