Good day...

Aquired a Global Skyraider this weekend. Model flies great, except for a tail wag @ full throttle. Any Ideas???

Also, I need a canopy. I understand Global is no longer in business, or at least no longer makes this model.

Whata' ya' think???

Thanks!!!!!

Allen

I have flown a Global skyraider for the last seven years. Mine has tail wag if it is real windy but not other wise. I usually don't fly it full throttle as I like to fly it scale like. I do throttle up for loops rolls and such. I used a Sig military canopy and it looks fairly good as my orginal one was destroyed in a mid-air. Sam

Global marketed 2 different Skyraiders: 1 an ARF, and 1 a slightly larger kit. Either could probably use a P-51 style canopy (Sig makes several sizes) if nothing else can be found.

So,.......which one(s) are we discussing here?

Mine is a kit. I always thought the ARF looked more like a T-28 without the nose gear. I didn't use a P-51 canopy but a 11" military canopy. It weighs 9 and 1/2 lbs and is powered with a OS 91 Surpass. Right now I have a pair of hybrid Spring Air Rhom 90 degree rotating retracts that are really solid in it. for the last 7 years I had a regular pair of Rhom 90 degree in it and they have gotten pretty sloppy but still worked ok. I would like to put flaps on and may do that later this year. It seems to land hot. It will fly slow but you have to get it low and really drag it in.

Here is a picture of my Skyraider.Sorry it doesn't show the canopy that well but it's the only photo I have. I need to take some more. I figure it has at least 400 flights on it since the last overhaul. Sam
