Hi,

I have a question about the power setup on my 73" yak I'll be building. I thought about using a Fromeco 2600 2-cell Li-ion battery and a Fromeco regulator with single JR leads, which limits this setup to a 3 amp draw. The servos I'll be using on the plane are HS-5945/85s. Will this setup provide enough power?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

You should be fine. I see no problems

I think this is on-topic (just a different sense of the phrase 'power set-up'...)

How do you think it'll take a Moki 1.8? I'm taking one out of a Carden 26% Extra ( I'm replacing that with a Brillelli 46GT) and now that I got it running really good (18-8 Zinger Pro @8500rpm) I need another airframe to put it in.

The Extra weighs 13.4lbs w/o fuel and though the Moki will hover it, there's zero left to pull out with. I plan to use the Carden for IMAC flying and need (want) a ship that I can fly 3D with (read 'learn' 3D). The Moki will fly the Carden at 3/4 throttle for 12 minutes on about 18 oz of fuel so I figure with all the excess power I'll have with it in the Yak I'll have exceptional excess-power and really long flight times as well.

As for servos, QQ recommends 8611's all around though he specifies you only yneed 130 in.-oz. servos. I'm not ready to drop more on servos than the plane so what other Hitec/JR/Futaba servos would do the job?

I absolutely LOVE the new color scheme.

Hi pappy35,

Moki 1.80 is a great engine but a little too big and too powerful. If you can balance the plane and have no problem fitting it, go for it.

The Moki with mount and Bisson Pitts muffler weights 3lbs, 4.9oz. Do you think it'll balance if I put all the servos in the tail?

You are pretty much stuck on where to mount the servos. It is heavy, I'm afraid you will have a hard time balancing it unless you are willing to add weight to the tail if need be.

On the servos I would use something around 150 oz-in to be safe and they have to be digital if you want to go by the minimum torque. I'm glad you like the color scheme

Thank you,
Reza

Does anyone think the 73" will work with a crrc 45i?

I mounted my Moki 2.10 in my 73 and it came in at 11.5 lbs. I had to put the battery all the way back in the tail through the bottom of the fuse. The moki does not weigh any more than the small gasser's weigh, so I went for it!! It will turn a 20x10 prop at 7300 rpm's and sip fuel flying around at 1/4 throttle most of the time!! 8500 sound's kind of high for the 1.8 are you sure you're not under propped? My 2.10 would hover my 15 lb. Dave Patrick edge with a little pull out left over so at 11.5 lbs. the power should be rediculous!!!
Now waiting for weather!!!

I mounted my Moki 30 (RCS180) in my 73 and it came in at 5260 grs. It will turn a 20x6 prop at 7800 rpm's and flying around at 1/4 throttle most of the time!! My 180 would hover at a bit more 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and vertical performance is like a missil
