There are 6-8 of us here in Sierra Vista, AZ starting up some local SSC-style Combat action. We basically plan to follow the SSC rules (for the most part) and goof off among ourselves. I'm betting this will evolve into wanting to go to some sanctioned contests.

Any active combat flying in the Tucson or Phoenix area ?

Thanks, Eric

Don Lacey is the only RCCA member listed in Arizona. There may be others flying combat, but he was the only one I could find.

If you join the RC Combat Association (http://www.rccombat.com), in addition to the other benefits, it helps other combat pilots find you so you can tear up the skies together.

Lynx,

The Avistar is the best Trainer there is. Get the Avistar, and then join a club. The'll teach you how to fly. Pretty soon you'll be ready for combat!

Alex

Lynx,

Yep - contact one of the clubs in Tucson TRCC (flytrcc.com or Al Moser = alanlmosher@aol.com) or TIMPA http://www.timpa.org/ and get back in the air. When you are comfortable contact Alex and look into a Battle Axe - I can vouch for their toughness ! They are great airplanes.

Unfortunately, I dont have any trainers but the Avistar is a good choice as well as the Hobbico Super Star.

Take care, Eric

Lynx,

Most of the clubs have a yearly membership fee and require AMA membership but the AMA sponsors an "Intro Pilots Program":

Intro-Pilot Program
An intro-pilot program is available to all chartered clubs. Qualified pilots from chartered clubs may participate. Instructors can train non-AMA members to fly airplanes during a time period of 60 consecutive days, and students are covered by the liability provisions of the AMA insurance policy. Full details are available from the Membership Department at AMA Headquarters.

Check with the particular club.

Best bet is to visit their flying field and ask around -

Eric
