Thanks Don, as Greg stated above he sent me the pics you took, and they are helpful. I would love to see the air-to-air photo shoot though!!

Greg: good point on the clarification. What I am interested in is the intercooler doors and the exhaust vent/diverters.

Just for you guy's information and not meaning to pick nits...but the first vent behind the cowl line is an adjustable exhaust vent the second one is a fixed exhaust diverter and the round pipe behind it with a butterfly valve looking thing is the waste gate. The big adjustable vents on the side of the rear fuse are the intercooler doors.

That's correct Greg, sorry for any confusion. Habit forces me to continually get these things mixed up despite knowing better! The turbo charger and its various vents on the lower rear fuselage is available from Ziroli and is nicely done. I'll post a pic of mine installed on the airplane as soon as I can snap one. Anyone interested in parts can drop me a note at cvnkv@aol.com.

Greg, it will be difficult to let this one go but I do have another 70 inch bubble top Jug kit sitting here. It is not a Ziroli but a glass and foam kit from Germany. It is very nice but maybe not quite as scale as the Ziroli. However, it would build up in about a third of the time. It actually belongs to Chuck Hamilton but should I decide to keep it I'm sure Chuck and I can work out something.

Chad, I sent you an email. I'm interested in your methods as far as the installation of the exhaust diverters. I'm also interested in the vinyl inspection hatches.

To those wanting the parts I have saved your info and will keep you informed as to progress. Give me a couple of weeks to pull it all together. I also have several people waiting for Typhoon parts which I need to get completed before I can do the Jug stuff. Stay tuned...

Here's the promised pic of the turbo-charger exhaust installed on the Jug. This comes as a single piece from Ziroli but I cut it apart and installed each individually. The front two portions have a fillet built up around them with micro balloons/resin per the full size.

That really looks great Chad. I was going to forgo getting the stuff from Ziroli but after seeing that...I might just take the plunge.
By the way, how is the weight looking on your's so far? I haven't weighed mine but with the retracts and the gas engine, it's feeling a little heavy to my calibrated elbow.
I'm hoping I haven't built myself a lead sled here...

I guess you could read that a couple of different ways! Ah well, English never was my favorite subject. Thanks Joe
bullet65, I don't know the name of the manufacturer of the other Jug kit but I will look when I get home and post it here. (if I remember!)

Greg, I have not weighed this one yet either but I can tell you that it is substantially heavier than necessary. It is a 70 inch airplane that was designed more like a 100 inch airplane. Still, I don't think it's too much and those in the know say it flies just fine. If I were to build another, however, I think I could easily take out a couple of pounds by changing the structure a bit and choosing light wood.

Chad,
I am working on the 92" Ziroli Jug and have a traditional silver with invasion stripe scheme picked out, but no one has asked what silver finish you used on the fuse. It looks really good (you will need weathering), but looks like a nice aluminum.
Let us in on the secret..........

Anthony, no secret to it. It's plain old Aerogloss Dope, Silvaire Aluminum is the color. I think that by weathering each individual panel on the airplane that a good representation of aluminum could be achieved. One secret is to make sure the finish underneath is as flawless as possible. The smoother the paint goes on the more it looks like aluminum. However, the silver is just a base coat on this airplane as the final scheme is to be olive drab/grey camo. Best of luck with your big P-47.

One other thing guys, don't mount the dummy engine so far forwrd that the cyliders are right at the cowl lip. Nothing looks goofier than a P-47 with the engine and a bunch of pushrods sitting way up front. I have seen too many done that way ruining an otherwise gorgeous model. Don

Don, I agree with you on that. Personally, I like seeing no dummy engine at all (in the case of gasoline powered planes) than to see the dummy engine right at the lip of the cowl. It's even worse on the P-47 becuase once the engine is placed too far forward, then that inlet at the bottom of the cowl has to be placed flush with the front of the cowl and as you can see, it's recessed quite a bit on the real thing. I've even seen that on quite a few Top Gun and Masters models. Of course, in their case, I guess they'd get a bigger deduction for no engine than a misplaced one.

Shupack, I would love to have some photos of a Jug done up as Oregon's Brittania. Just the overall paint scheme would be nice as anything else is going to be the same as any other P-47.
My email is gfoxr@yahoo.com and thanks for the offer.
