You know, I thought my 106 was fine without baffling. It never really worked hard, and the heads were fully exposed on top, maybe one fin down. I thought that cutting the cowl laterally at the middle of the vent holes, all the way back, would be a good two piece cowl solution. Then the baffling becomes easier. I never made it that far, but my 106 is at Cactus now getting checked out. I ran my 106 with the endpoints set at 70% throttle. It was all it needed, and my curve was soft. Try the DL without the baffling , making the head holes big. Allow enough relief around the exhaust pipes, Air in ,air out. BTW, I have been flying the Cub daily, and I lost the 1lb weight on the motor mount , with a little down trim , it flies fine. The 106 really did make this plane nose heavy. The DL should be spot on.
