This thing's going to be great fun! I really enjoy my WM 1/3 cub! So do the fellow pilots at clubs and spectators too....in fact my 1/3 cub just won the peoples choice award on Saturday in the Beat The Heat fly in Flagstaff Arizona. The WM 1/3 cub really attracts people, even people that don't really care much for cubs. They can't not like this one! Especially when its hovering over the runway and pulls out with an 80cc twin gasser in it.

What would be your opinion of a G62 for an engine choice. Not looking for hovering, but it would be fun. (for the full wing or the clipped wing version)

I think the G62 would be a great engine for this bird or the SC. Alot of guys are running the G62 and claim its very overpowered.

I just bought a WM 1/3 Super Cub. I did not buy the 1/3 J-3, even though I love Cubs. The1/3 J-3 from WM is non-scale. THere is no top Longeron and it is flat on top...not Cub-like...more Model Airplane-like.

I Bought the Super ...never had a Super before...I fly a 1/4 BalsaUSA J-3 all the time.

I was thinking of putting my 3W 106 in the Super with 64 oz of Smoke , Camera's, drop box, the works. But it seems the GT-80 does it well....my 106 is lighter I think. Will have to back off the throttle curve and restrict power.

Are there any build threads here for the Super 1/3??? I wqould imagine the stock gear shouldbe replaced right off the bat with one of the better articulated setups, eh??

This looks like yet another standoff (read: stand waaaaay back!) scale plane to me. If this plane was built as it looks in full scale....the cabin framing would be built of salt treated 2'' by 6'' studs. And what's up with mounting the servos for the tail on the OUTSIDE?? Geez. Looks good on my H9 Twist, but a !/3 scale CUB?? C'mon! ...Laughable!

Unfortunately, it is an ARF......which means ...I will be laughing and smiling while I am flying it in just a few days.

Ostensibly high enough that no one notices it's Non-Scale flaws. Laughable.

The flip side is , I could be crying whilst building it , from sticks, trying to make it look scale.

Laughable, yes, Cheap Fun, too.

Yea...kinda like a 6 horse chuckwagon breezing by Jeff Gordon at the Inianapolis 500 at speeds over 200 mph.....that would look normal, too.

Recieved the WM Super Cub 1/3 today.

Great condition, A#1.

Amazing hinging job, all metal in hinges, perfectly done. All surfaces. Unreal sturdy struts...solid Alum covered with wood. Brass connectors on the struts.

Nice tail whhel and inflatable tires for the main gear. Main gear is Balsa USA Wire style. Cockpit and tray all fit perfectly. Doors brass piano hinged. Tail feathers fit tight and snug perfectly square without adjustment. Dove tail , and mortis tenon joint style connection.

Wings perfect with strings for pulling through the leads. Flaps undercut slightly to conceal gap when raised...nice. They only go DOWN as a result, no chance for fullspan ailerons...Thats OK..these ailerons are enormous.

Cowl is fiberglass, with a dummy clear cowl, for hole sizing and transfer of holes. VERY NICE.

I could nit pick a few things on it, but it's overall grade A for a 700 dollar ARF.

I believe the "standoff scale" label fits well. THis could also be the great base for a kit bash to really good scale. Its built well straight and true, the firewall will easily take a 100cc plant, I am having to space out my 3W 106 to get the distance, and I am going to be cutting the cowl for the cylinders to show. ....standoff scale. Wink....

Gotta get back to work.
