Hello.. I'd like to get back into cars, my experience is RC10B3, Nitro RS4, Shuttle ZXX heli, and now a 1/2A plane being finished.

I want to get a good speedy pan car (not oval)... something along the lines of an RC10L3 or RC12L3. My nitro car used to do around 40-45 mph, realistically, in 2nd gear, but I'd like to go a little past that. As I get it, the lower the number of turns on a motor, the faster it is? What is the best cheap modified motor (need something at least down to 9T) good for a pan car? Also what are some good batteries, and what is a cheap ESC that can handle a motor like this one?

I have the radio... 6XHS heli radio!

Thanks...

well first off, CAN the heli radio idea, trust me on this one. another thing, check out bolink's sight, you might be very surprised, i know i was, they have some pretty good looking stuff, some performers too, they have a great looking pan car...... as far as a motor? TRINITY SPEED GEMS.... are awesome as hell, as soon as you break the f'ers in. i would go with a 12-13 turn double or triple, i personally have a 13t double, and it is really fast, and great run time. a novak dually, would run great with this motor, and you will not outgrow it. i have a streak which is 100percent kickass, but they can be a royal paint sometimes ( i still love abs!!!) the dually should be around 100 bucks.... as for batterys? well hydrides they say are the in things riight now, if you have a charger for them you might wanna check a couple packs out, you will get insane run times out of a pan car, oh by the way get a charger that will handle more than 10 cells, maybe so you can run about 10cells at a time in your car, NOW WE ARE TALKIN' SPEEEEED lol..... hope i could help......

Hey,
He is right, but, it won't get you going very fast (- the 10 cells). I have a Carpet knife with a D5 8T double ($57 for a really good motor that will last longer then the cheap SG's) and NiHM GP3300 worlds in it (4 cells) and it absolutly freakin FLYS!!!! As for the electronics, if your going to be using a hot motor (Lower # of turn means faster/hotter the motor) with a lite chassis I would recommend the little bit expensive Quantium Compition. Its alot lighter then the Novaks and works better as well. Oh yeah, I'm running with a 14T RRP Light pinion and a RRP 72T mach. spur gear (48P). The 10 cell approch is expensive, but this too will have you flying on the street.

Have Fun

thanks... but why not the heli radio thing? Its the only radio i have, and i have 7 servos to choose from to use on the car... with some other goodies. already got everything needed for it too.

i know that 10 cells will be good but its no big deal. i think i might do with even 4 cells, 6 cells preferred. Well i will check out ebay for some good deals. Thanks!

speed gems ARE great motors, if you KNOW how to work on and tune one........i got tips out of rc car action on them, and like they say, sg's come basic.... cut or polish the com, get some serrated brushes or make sure you break the sg bruches in very well. also, i advanced the timing on the motor 20 degrees, with all this in mind, you are not talking a basic motor, it will really run with anything. all i can tell you is to read, this mag i have on them is worth its weight in gold, it tells you how to take the factory motor and turn it upside down, its nuts....but basically, they run from the box hard, but you can even extract about 45 percent more out of them, no joke!!

I have had some and I think i'm gonna stick with the D5's. True the SG's are rather good but I like the advantages of my D5, which include: Longer run times, longer brush life, etc. Just so you know, i'm not downing any motors, just telling him what I think

I agree, D5's are better, and i love them in my 12L3. I jus rather not tinker with my engine 24/7 like a speed gem and as for them flying, thats not an understatement, mine literally glides on carpet.. its a beautiful site
