The sailarea is significantly smaller than other 1M boats. My Voyager has only a 125 cm mast and stands 175 cm tall, compared with the Olympia with a total height of 134 cm, the mast can't be much more than 110 cm. Next to that, the sails are flat plastic panels, not very good, sure they will work, but not very efficiently. Total weight is actually less than my Voyager (3300gr), but that will be most likely be in the ballast. The only advantage in my opinion is the hullshape, when you sail in weed infested ponds, a fin keel would get stuck in a matter of feet, while the S-shaped Olympia will glide over it. If you search for the factory video's, you'll notice that most of them are shot either in sheltered conditions or with very little wind, indicating these hulls are lightwind constructions. My advice is to look for something better. Check the AMYA site for similar types of boats (which will perform much better) EC-12, Santa Barbara Class springs to mind. Regards, Jan.
