Hey all,

I am in the completion stage of my 52" fusion with YS 63 up front. I have the battery as far forward in the wing as possible and the engine has to go almost all the way to front of rails for it to balance in range. Is this normal? I hate putting four strokes that far forward on profiles but is this what it takes. The battery I am wanting to use is a bit to big for the front hatch area....

Any feedback appreciated.

Should not be. And you are right about putting the engine far forward as it promotes more vibration and all. The common setup is engine about the middle of the rails and the battery in the left wing (front) with a y-harness and switch also in the left wing. CG should be 5.5-5.75 inches behind the leading edge at the root.

Thanks Mike,

They must have put some heavy wood in the tail or something, I checked it again and tail drops real fast with engine toward middle, and checking at 5.75.

argh

Mike have you got some heavy servos in the tail? I have a 72 on mine with the battery in the back of the wing. With the engine all the way back I wish the CG was more to the rear. I can't move the engine back any further unless I cut the front of the fuse down. I am thinking about goint to a heavier servo to get more weight in the tail.

No, I have hitec 325bb's which is basically a standard size non metal gear servo. I am hoping I dont have to add dead weight to this one. Weird.

Mike, Not trying to offend you but, you are balancing it inverted with the tank empty? You don't act like a rookie or look like one in your avitar. It just never hurts to ask.

No offense at all taken, never hurts to ask. But yes I checked it upright and inverted and the tank is empty.

Also... if you are experienced...balance towards the back of the range or even behind it..... this plane is really nuetral and can handle a pretty serious aft CG

Thanks all,

Well I got it to balance at 5.75 with a little work. Hopefully will test fly this weekend and see how it goes.

It will soon be your favorite plane. The knife edge loops are fantastic.

Thanks, I also recently built the fusion90, it is a great flyer and am having a lot of fun with it. Just curious, how does the fusion 52 harrier?

HI

Will this plane work well with a OS 55AX?

Have a 55AX looking for a airframe

Yes, the 55AX is a new standard for 40 size profiles. Great choice for the Fusion as well. The smaller Fusion is much looser than the bigger one although once you get used to how responsive the controls can be you'll learn to do things even the bigger one won't do. The use of spoileron mixing on the 52" Fusion really tames down the harriers for most and I'd recommend programming in about 20% mix with elevators until you get more used to the responsiveness. Check out the video at the OMP website.

I use a spoileron mix on mine as well. I mix it 100% but use the trainer switch to turn it on/off. I would not recommend a 100% mix like mine if your have to hunt for the switch to turn it off. I just pull the trainer switch to me to turn it on and then let go of the switch to turn it off. This mix is also great for Elevators,Knife edge spins, Walls and Water falls. Hate to ramble but also try a Death Slide with your Fusion. Mine drops nearly straight down if I keep the engine one tick above idle.

Maybe AFSalmon could give a more informed response, but as an owner of a Fusion as well as several other profiles....I'd say the Fu
