Thanks for the tip Bob

I think I'll go ahead and mount it in the new planes and make sure the new tank is level with the spray bar or was it the middle of the tank level with the carby?

Any which way the mounting holes are there on the slab. Being a profile the factory has pre drilled where the tank goes but will make sure its in the right spot.

I just installed a 55AX in a Hangar 9 Twist 3D. I just finished the plane last night and ran 2 tanks of fuel throught the engine today. I am running 15% nitro, I started with a 13-4 prop and switched to a 12-5. Tach said about 12k with the 12-5. I seen in this post someone was running a 12-4w, I have one of those I may try it tomorrow and see what it will spin it at.
Even new the engine idled Very nice, smooth transition from idle to full throttle. Midrange power and throttle response seems great. I have been running a 46FX for years now (not one dead stick) and this new engine seems to tune and run just as smooth as my perfect running 46. I have to give OS credit for a very easy to tune engine!

If the rain stops I will have it in the air tomorrow.

Hi

I just started flying the Showtime 50 with the OS55AX and a 12x7 APC prop and for my style of flying which is a pattern one-it flies very nicely.
I am using the stock muffler which came with the engine and an OS muffler extension which worked out very well.
I am considering getting a GP Revolver evntually as it is a harp looking plane as well.

I have a Top Flite Cessna 310 to maiden shortly with 2 AXi 4120x18 electric motors-looking forward to it as well

Anyway take care and have fun because after all this is a hobby.

Frank

I put mine in a NJ1 design fun fly type plane-Foam wing cores, larger controls ect.... Weighs in at 4lb 3oz. with the 13x4 prop-vertical/hovering is not a problem-just an option.

Just finished up a Top Flight Contender with a new 55AX and am going to take it out this weekend. Should be fun with the 55 in there. I used to have a Contender with an HP 61 and it flew great. This one should be even better.

I stuck the 55 in a phoenix sukhoi and love it. Needed some thrust angle help but once that was fixed it flew great. I had the 46ax in there first and it was way underpowered so the 55 it was.....never regreted it.

Well I had the motor hear with nothing to put it in.. I dug a duraplane out of the closet and put it together with the 55...So now I have one fast ugly dura brick " $20.00" with a new os 55 on it..It is amazingly fast but still a junk plane..But atleast it is flying....I guess this would be my beater plane..When I put it up everyone else lands..lol...Maybe there is a trust issue..lol

I've had a Funtana 40 for a few years that I never got around to building, so I bought a OS .55 to install in that with the matching slimline pitts-style muffler that should give a very nice sound. I also have 2 55's waiting to replace the OS 46's in my TF Cessna 310. The extra power from each would make an engine out event more recoverable.
