Great boats everybody
I'll be gone for the next two weeks and will have no internet but when I come back hopefully my Cajun Gator .40 build will be fairly close to done, it's still just the skeleton for now. I'll post pictures of it when I get back from the trip.
About the thread, let me just say this, I see some amazing works of art from everyone. What attracts me to rc airboating is the creativity of building, and how much more affordable things are compared to other areas of the hobby. Although I'm addicted to all the other areas too.
Again, thanks to everyone for posting pictures, keep them coming.

I'm trying ot get a date set for it but we're also looking at site in Grand Rapids to hold it which would add an extra 50 miles to your drive. I'd rather keep it here though and hopefully have more airboater's show up this time. I'm sure that you got a lot of people thinking about putting one together!
I won't have a date until I get with Mark to see when he's coming up but hopefully the same weekend as this years.

This is VERY true AND holds true to MANY others as well .
But , the other main thing you left out ....
99 per cent of RC airboaters are NOT deep pocketed snobs that do NOT have the attitude of
" if you can't afford it , then change hobbies"
With RC airboating , just about ANYONE can afford it .

Well put Turbo !. It is a very affordable way for people to obtain their NEED FOR SPEED with a low chace of utter failure, as I have only had a couple boats that just didn't perform - most times it is succesful or can be made to be.

Hey Wolfman, you've added some boats to the fleet! Can you give some info on that blue foamie? I don't think I've ever seen that one before.

My son and I have built an airboat very similar to yours. See attached photo. Powered with a Thunder Tiger .40 Pro.
We tried it for the first time today in the water. Man, this thing is faster than I thought it would be.

I'm a little worried about it being top heavy, and flipping over. Any of you guys make outriggers for this type of airboat? I'm thinking about adding some.

Any suggestions?

try locating the tank underneath the engine pod.

How wide is your hull? I am thinking of swapping my os25 for a .46 or os40fsr on my 15" wide hull and am wondering if it would be suitable.

I have just rebuilt the .25 engine pod and put the tank underneath. I have only bench run it so far but the motor has no probs getting the fuel up from underneath with the exhaust pressure tube attached. First water test is this weekend.

Yeah... I'm thinking it's over powered. I've got a .15 I could put on it, but I don't know how much fun that would be. After driving it at only about five clicks above idle and seeing it scoot.... I think the .40 will be fun. I'm thinking I'm going to mount a pair of pontoon-outriggers to the front sides.

The width right now is about 12 inches.

doug the small swamp buggy has a os.25 that will push it up to 25 mph i have a 46 that i was going to try but the 25 is more than this hull can handle in a turn. [gets top heavy] as for the big one it has the bad habit of trying to fly at 35mph and then it starts doing 3-d moves i can usualy save it but some time i like to see what it will do next. lol

Here are some pic's from the early 90's, A 45 Hobby people engine. It did beat a few 45 outboard tunnel hulls many times.I still have the Predator looking mother,Maybe I can make a videio someday. It only runs on 2 front sponsons the water pickup kicks up the spray in the back.
