I don't see why they would not let you take a picture or two of it...

Robbie, Graupner etc. I think all the same. Was a German company active from about 1978 until the early 1990's. The works, labeling and manufacturer used to get changed quite often, depending upon who was retailing such. Hobby-Shack was vendor for them out California way for a number of years.

They used to market electric powered boats and A/C. Friend of mine has one of their boats, under four different box labels. A Sale would come up, and he would buy one cheaper than the last one.

I sure would not pay antique prices for one. May see one at upcoming AMA swap shop in Ontario.

Wm.

Not that it would help much to answer your question but I think I may have a picture of it in an advertisment in one of my old magazines. If I run across it would you want me to post a picture?

A big foam donut with a free floating 61 engine the prop rotates the donut on way and the prop runs the other and the motor goes where ever it wants to it is controlled with fins like rudders under main body Put lights on it and have all kinds of fun ! scares heel out of some people thinking it is a flying souser
It work on the order of a hover craft.

I happen to have one of these machines hanging from my shop ceiling for about 20 years now.
Had it running but never off the ground.
I built it. Had some issues with the parts breaking easily (like the rudder). Solved the issues and it hasn't moved since.
Let me know if anyone has any questions about it I might be able to help with.

Robbe and Graupner are 2 different companies out of Germany. I built a Robbe Parat-E for a buddy of mine when I was stationed at Ramstein. Both companies are still in business, most of what you see on their respective websites are the same old arfs we see here, but they do still carry some kits. The Graupner catalog is just beautiful, but it's about 35 dollors or so here..

I know it's a little off the thread topic but yes, the Graupner catalogs have always been works of art. Am I not correct in saying that in the original version of "Flight of the Phoenix" with Jimmy Stewart, that the "airplane designer" was reading a Graupner catalog before the crash, setting himself as a designer of model planes rather than full sized. That later became the reason for a huge argument with the other characters. Mitch

Spiderman, any chance you have or can get a video of yours flying? I had one and it "flew" but was pretty much uncontrollable and to say that it flew is a stretch. I would love to see one in flight. I had mine up about 100ft once luckily got it down but it was not pretty. I did everything I could think of to try and get it to work to no avail. I had the disc in perfect balance and run out, used new bearings tried different props etc etc.

I believe there are generically two types of "flying saucers" in our hobby.

One is the donut with the engine in the middle, and the other is a round flying wing design. I'll see if I can get a photo.

Mitch,

Actually it was a Schuco-Hegi Modellbau catalogue, another German model company.
