First off, you guys all over these forums are amazing, I've learned A LOT with all that I've been reading here...

Now, future Mrs. Nifty is getting me an XT8! I would like to know your best suggestions for the outfitting of the beast...

I'm thinking Axial 28RR Spec 1S for the engine
Outfit my Airtronics M11 with Spektrum module
Hitec HS6985HB for steering
Still debating on a Hitec HS645MG for throttle and brake duty
Buku Power variable exhaust system
Perhaps a Werks clutch?

Any ideas and pics would be great! We will be documenting this little co-operative build via photos and any updated instructions and will post on rcuniverse if required (WITH A MUCH MORE RELIABLE camera this time around)

And oh yah, feel free to flaunt with pics and bragging rights....

Cheers,

Captain Nifty

I'll be getting mine in the next few days too. Personally I will be fitting an RB TM928, but that engine is double the price of the Axial. I'd still suggest you think about a slightly better engine to really do the car justice, but the Axial is a fine mill for bashing, and probably fine for club racing too.

Check out the other thread I posted today about Xray's domination at the US Monster Truck Championships a few days ago. Follow the link to Xrays article ont heir site and check out the winning setup sheets, links to which have been posted in the article, I plan to mix some of the elements from those setups and the default setup to start with. Feel free to pm me anytime, maybe we'll end up doing the build together!

Good luck.

That Axial might have a problem fitting into the non-pull start mounts.

Yea but axial sell the bump start backplate so he'll be ok

if u MUST get the axial 28RR spent a few more bucks on a better carb......the OS 30VG one OR the NOVAOSSI 528's fit perfect ........tha axial motor makes good power but the carb REALY REALLY SUCKS if ur linkage isnt 100% perfect the carb will bind and kill ur servo or stay locked in WOT (i happen to me) plus the needles on the carb like to vibrate out!!!! never again will i run a axial......

if ur realyl intested in a 28 size motor and can afford the few extra bucks look into the team factory picco 28 P3......its turbo and bump start and they sell for 189.99.......i own 2 and just ordered a 3rd one.........let me tell u its one hell of a motor!!!!

I can vouch for the picco p3 28, its a rediculously powerful engine with tons of torque. I was convinced after several posts by supertib, hes your man whan it comes to engines.
