AirplaneMan04 -> New Robart P-47 Arf (8/1/2007 3:53:31 PM)

Does anyone have any updated information on this new model?
Claims have been made that info is on Robart's website but there
is nothing which leads me to believe the expected "september"
debut will not happen. I would like to know if it will be available in
a razorback version.

smaze17 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/1/2007 5:50:47 PM)

I just went to the Robart website I saw nothing about the P-47....

Richard L. -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/1/2007 8:52:00 PM)

They need to get off their rear ends and update the website.

AirplaneMan04 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/1/2007 9:13:26 PM)

Yes Richard, i agree, hence me posting this.
I am so interested in this airplane, as well as the offering from
Century Jet. At least century jet lists the plane on their site along
with pricing and options. It is the larger Meister based 102" design
i believe. I would rather stick with the 1/5 scale from robart based on
the ziroli design and im wondering if its in Razorback version.

AirplaneMan04 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/13/2007 7:53:12 PM)

Still no news from anyone? This is much like Hangar 9 debuting an aircraft
only to be led on saying it is backordered month after month after month
until finally a year later the kits arrive! LOL Very frustrating!
Still nothing posted on Robarts website.

warks62 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/14/2007 12:15:04 AM)

Last thing I heard was that they were trying to get some weight out of the tail due to it having to add to much nose weight to balance. The last date I had heard was end of
Sept. for $1700.

Thanks Randy. Any idea if this airplane is available in a razorback version?

F4u5 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/15/2007 3:13:26 PM)

We have a Century Jet here in town....I would avoid, myself (I advised this individual the same). The CJM P-47 has the same flaws found in the corsair. Poorly constructed and HEAVY. Every bit as bad as their Corsair that I had. For example, when we put the wing halves togehter, there was a 3/16 step between the 2 panels where they did not line up. CJM's response was that it couldn;t be so as they test fit everything. Guess what....it IS so. They do not line up at all. The spar joiner brace will need to be ripped and shimmed to get the panels lined up. Also, the aileron pockets were off. At the tip of the wing skin (outside tip of aileron) on one wing, there was a nice 3/16 to 1/4 inch pocket for the aileron where the balsa was glued in to the wing in for the hinges. On the other wing panel, the balsa is almost flush with the wing skin at the aileron tip. That means that the enitre balsa strip is off and the ailerons will not line up the same. The plywood pieces appear to just be thrown in there with a bunch of poorly laid glue beads. It looks like a 3 year old did the glue. Like the Corsair, there was a ton of flashing to be filed off, but at least CJM did that (on this one). And man will it be heavy. The cowl did not firt the fuse. IT will have to be cut and spread to mate. Cowl is too small at the back side. Look for it to be around 60+ pounds, maybe close to 70 pounds with Sierra gear (preferred), Glennis Wheels (preferred) and ballast. My Corsair still lays unfinished, as I assume this P-47 will end up.....unfinished. I am not bashing CJM, just advising of what was received for the money. I'd hold out for the Ziroli, albeit a bit smaller.

Chock! -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/15/2007 4:46:41 PM)

I called Robart 2 weeks ago, and they said October.

samparfitt -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (8/23/2007 11:21:31 AM)

Talked to another pilot and he said next summer.
From what I understand, the all composite creates flexing when the plane is flying and it has to be reinforced.
At least they are making sure it is correct before releasing it.
This is all 'hearsay' so take it 'as is'.

Icemanjr92 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/13/2007 9:50:29 PM)

Jeff,
Often imitated but never duplicated......
This is why you should stick with the original company and original design.... [:D]
Nothing builds or flies like an "original" Meister!

See you guys in Denver!

easton24 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/23/2007 5:48:21 PM)

Yeah I been looking at maybe getting the Ziroli kit. Still a ways out though so maybe when Im ready the arf will be out.

daleflysrc -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/23/2007 7:55:18 PM)

When it comes to WARBIRDS you just have to bite the bullet and get down to building !!!
Haven't seen any Giant arf yet that looks even close to a scale one . Well maybe with the exception being some of the new electrics that are out now!! and the Comp arf, Yellow A/C, Air world & PCM. But in my opinion Thay are way out of a working man with a family's price range. With a built up all wood A/C ,you can at least buget as you build !! My next one is a Meister corsair !! She will be 102" when I get through and I allready have the short kit and Retracts,wheels and tailwheel included. Cowl& canapy and I have a grand total of $650.00 A little labor save's you a lotta money in the long run !! And you have a well built airplane with a lot of pride in it !! when you get through !!!

rrudytoo -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/24/2007 4:38:39 AM)

I would like to thank Dale for re-defining what was once the norm..............building your own planes. With the abundance of ARF's everywhere you turn these days it's getting harder and harder to find folks who still build their own stuff.

I confess, I bought a Hangar 9 Mustang a few years back...........my first and only ARF. There was zero pride of ownership in this plane especially when I saw three or four others on the flightline all looking exactly the same. If I was hard pressed for free time or would rather fly than build, I might be among those who buy ARF's but fortunately I have free time and I love to build and challenge my abilities with each and every new project.

As I usually hit the Warbird Forums at least once a day, I can't help but notice the near-complete domination of ARF's within those posts. There are times when I think we should have separate forums for ARF and built-up aircraft. I'm not trying to start anything here but I just can't look at a plane with heat shrink plastic covering and see a warbird. But, hey. That's just me.

Al

Dave and Al,

I agree with you. You see less and less "real build threads" here. Scale building is not for everyone.

kahloq -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/24/2007 10:27:34 PM)

Pics were in error as they of a different plane....based upon announcer at event.

Icemanjr92 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/25/2007 3:08:09 PM)

kahloq,

The pics you show are of the Hangar 9 P-47.
The Robart is based on the Ziroli design and looks to be made only of the bubble version.
Sennis Crooks flew the Robart version with me in the Warbird gaggle.

Cheers guys!

Hmmmm weird as I was going off what the announcer said might have just got them mixed up........and yeah I knew it was based on the Ziroli. The only other P-47's I got shots of were the Giant one and that was definitely NOT the Ziroli Robart and then a few H9 P-47's. of the 60 size. The other P-47 was a captured plane in German markings and that WAS the Hangar 9 1.50 size(I do have pics of that one).

samparfitt -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/26/2007 3:35:10 AM)

robart's P-47

ScaleME -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (9/26/2007 3:54:11 AM)

I had a conversation with the Robart guys standing next to their P-47 (shown above as "Eileen", checkered cowl) at the WOTR event this past weekend. I asked if this was a later version of the Robart P-47 that I saw at the Toledo show. They said it was. It was obvious to me that they greatly improved the surface quality over the Toledo version. That version had surface rivets that were, IMHO, way too large and detracted from the model. This version is much better. I think you would be happy with the results.

AirplaneMan04 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (10/29/2007 3:57:43 PM)

Any new info yet? Anyone???? Its almost November. Still nothing on Robart website.

mobyal -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (11/1/2007 2:28:29 AM)

Nothing yet?

AirplaneMan04 -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (11/2/2007 6:53:28 PM)

I got an email back yesterday from Robart. The P-47 arf will not be
available until about Feb. of 2008. There is no Razorback version offered.

Here is what I was told :

The P-47 is a full composite version of the Ziroli P-47. It has a 92” wingspan and anticipated flying weight is slightly over 40#. It has plug-in wings, horizontal stabilizers and vertical stabilizer (all composite). The required engine is a G-62 or bigger. One of the prototypes is flying with a Husky 4.4 and the other is flying with a Quadra 100.

We anticipate delivery in the February/March 2008 timeframe with a price between $1,750 and $2,000. There will be two paint schemes available, one olive drab and one silver. Each paint scheme comes complete with weathering, exhaust markings, etc. The plane will also be available in white gelcoat as some modelers prefer their own schemes. This is an advanced ARF with approximately 20-30 hours of build time required. We will be offering combo kits with retracts and air system. Pylons, bombs and external fuel tanks will also be available.

Jimmy Bananas -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (11/3/2007 9:46:49 AM)

I see they jacked up the availablity date....What else is new?...Heck, I've been after them since the summer of 2006 to see when thier compact brakes would be ready....The last time I called them around the end of Sept,2007,still gave me the 'Should be ready in a couple of weeks"..I wonder how many couple of weeks there are in a year?..Had to wait 3- 1/2 months for my retracts for my KMP B-25..so I say again,what else is new are Robart......

kochj -> RE: New Robart P-47 Arf (11/5/2007 3:18:06 PM)

I am happy to see this airframe offered by them.
It would be a nice airframe to place a RCS radial engine in it!
I don't have the time to build one of these myself, so the ARF is a welcome addition.
I have also looked at the Sierra Giant T-28 Trjan.... 100" wingspan ect.
Awsome plane but will require me work to complete....
I have a pict that was sent ot me on my e-mail but it will not upload or save? anyway. It is a realy nice peice of work.

Here is the info on it...
Here is the info on the T-28:

Wing Span 112"
Scale 23%
Weight 45 to 50 lbs.
I expect to have the plans, laser wood kit and retracts ready
at the end of June or Early July.

The plane need at least a 120cc gas or the Moki/RCS 215 Radial.

The fuse is very large and would have to be shipped via truck line.
I have delivered a few to some shows like Toledo and Top Gun.
I hope to have 4 more fuses ready by the end of June.

The wing is 3 Pc. with the center section molded into the fuse.
Wings break at the end of the gear mounts.

The kits cost $2800.00 and includes the Glass Fuse, Wood, Retracts, Canopy,
Canopy Frame, Gear and Cowl Doors, Wing Tubes, Flap Hinges.

It does Not include Cockpit, Gear Door Cylinders, Wheels, Brakes,
Pushrods.
