The throttle servo opening is sized for the Hitec 85 or similar servo. You can always enlarge for a standard if you want but the minis save space and weight.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a prop to use with a .46 AX? I've got a few different ones, but now sure which one to use.

Most popular props for the 46 AX are the APC 12.25 x 3.75 or the 11.5 x 4.

Hi Mike,

I have seen some good things said about the 46 AX. I have a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 that I used in a trainer. Just curious if the Thunder Tiger would be a good combo with the APC 12.25 x 3.75. Would you have an opinion about this? I am not familiar with the differences between the Thunder Tiger and the 46 AX and if there differences would be material. I thought I read somewhere that adding a Tower Hobbies muffler on the Thunder Tiger 46 would be a good move but don't remember where I read that. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Keith

I am a big fan of the TT Pro 46 and have run many of them. I consider them just as good and strong as an OS. Use the same size props as I mentioned above. The Tower muffler is fantastic and really improves any of the 46 size motors.

I'm running 3004's all around. The CG is at 4 3/4". I would suggest the addition of a tail wheel.

Happy Landings!

I am running 3245's MG all around except an HS-81 on throttle. It required installing 3/16" Lite-Ply extensions inside the servo wells. The total weight saving is only slightly less than four ounces, but the additional speed and torque of these digital mini servos was worth the trouble.

Do you mean 5245MG servos? At 76 oz of torque and .12 speed they are superb for a 40 size model. I know some folks have complained about the mini servos but I have not had any problems myself either. I had some 245s (non-digital version) for a while.

You are correct, I should have typed 5245MG's. Indeed the perfect servos for 40 size glow models and high performace gliders.

Mike,

I am not sure if you are working today, but I am trying to track down my airplane. I ordered it from John on Wednesday, and he said I would have it on Friday, however it never showed up. I emailed John on Friday looking for the tracking number but I have not received a response.

Thanks,

Chris Adkins

Well depending on what time you ordered on Wed depends on whether or not UPS picked it up on Wed. Obviously thursday was a holiday and guess what, UPS decided Friday would be a holiday as well.......at least our local driver did. John did call UPS this morning and asked **** and they said sorry, their guy took Friday off and they could not get another local driver. So chances are any order made from last Wed to now got picked up today by UPS. Be patient, it will get there.

Mike Thanks for the update. I spoke with John earlier and it arrived today. He shipped it on Wednesday but UPS dropped the ball.

Now I have another problem. When I slide the wings on the CF rods do not go into the second rib on the left wing. There are holes in the rib, however the rods do not reach. I have two of these ARF'S and both are the same. I have attached a picture.

Has anyone seen this?

I had the same issue with mine. I ended up splicing more tubing the same diameter to the end. Just epoxy a dowl the size of the inside diameter of the wing tube and then epoxy the extension on that. It has held up for the past few months even under hard yanking and banking.

150flyer, thanks for the tip on that fix. Your two cases so far are the only ones I've heard about out of a couple hundred ARFs so far. I would guess the tubes were simply glued in the right wing too far. I bet if you look through or feel past R2 in the right wing you would feel about 1/2" of tube there. The hardwood extensions should be an easy fix though. We apologize for this inconvenience! Since even ARFS are put together by humans, there will be an occasional error. AT least this one is an easy fix.
