BTW... I would think that welding/JB welding the tail cone on would cause a problem since the baffle in the muffler could no longer be inspected.

Without drilling holes or gluing things together, I have seen people cut a 1-1/2 " piece of small bicycle innertube, slip it over the muffler/tailcone joint, and put a small ty-wrap on each side of the joint. It holds the tailcone on in case of bolt breakage and can be easily removed for inspection. You ARE all running stock baffles in those mufflers, aren't you?

Mine all have the baffles. A little proctology with a piece of wire can confirm that it's still in there.

Yes, you can tell if the baffle is there, but you can't tell if the baffle's been modified (holes opened up) or not.

Der Taskmeister et al -

Before I propose that the TT PRO 40 muffler can be modified to eliminate the baffle, does anyone have any data comparing the RPM gain or loss by (A) modifying the baffle and/or (B) eliminating it? Motor = TT Pro 40, Prop = APC Sport 9 X 6.

I have heard buzz at the Club 40 races that modifying/eliminating it actually de-tunes the motor...

Typical Texas conditions are: 80 - 100 deg F, 60 - 90% humidity during races.

(Removing the baffle is such an easy task a first time racer/sport flyer could do it and it would save a lot of hassle during tech inspection.)

Normally what we do is just buy a threaded rod at Home Depot or any other store, take the stock screw out and replace it with the trimmed rod and use safety nuts to keep it in place.
