I just received my new SuperBrain 989 today and I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I can charge my various different batteries. Well I didn't get very far because the first one I try and charge is my starter box battery which is UB1280 Lead Acid. I'm not sure which settings to use (this is probably why I get an error).

I currently have it set for

8000mAh
1.2Amp
1 cell

But thats as far as I can get. When I get to the voltage setting I can change anything it just says "used" and then a number which apears to be all the way up to 6 now.

When I select start I get Err b H.

Any ideas what could be wrong.

Thanks Much!

For charging gel cell batteries on the 989, 1 cell is considered 6 volts, 2 is 12 volts, and so on. When in actuality 1 cell in a gel/lead acid battery is equal to 2 volts. Not quite sure why we did it that way, but that's the way it is.

Sorry, set the cell count to 2 for a 12 volt battery.

Hi Tim,

Thanks so much for your help I was able to get it moving right along. One thing I didn't get from you though was the cut off. Or is that one of those settings that I don't need for the lead acid?

No problem. No cut-off needed for these.
