I don't know if this is what you are looking for , but if you go to the SPAD ( simple plastic airplane design ) Home Page you can get plans for the Flat Bat combat plane, It is made with a plastic flat bat that kids play ball with.Let me know if you hear of any other planes. Thanks Dan

Robert,

Do you have any contact info for that group of guys with the planes? If we could interest them in flying RCCA combat we would have that many more competitors, and so would they! (from the looks of those planes, they may even already have planes that would fly in the RCCA classes)

We're always in the look for more streamers to cut!

Thanks,
Alex

So can you tell us a little more about the pictured plane? dimensions, fuse material, are the flight surfaces covered balsa or corroplast? Who are the guys and can they supply any information? It is not a FLAT BAT as detail at http://www.spadtothebone.com/freeplans.htm

Try a coro bat from the listed plans, it will be less expensive to build, strong to take the knocks, and a quick build and quick repair. If you do build one post your build experience here.

Hi, the fun bat was made in a hobby shop in pittsburgh. It came with the wing already made and the rest of the parts precut. There was not a set of plans for the fun bat. It was a thin foam wing (i dont know the name of the foam) that was made on a jig. I dont have any parts or anything left from ant of my bats to even mesure for you. Not sure but it was maybe 3-4 years ago he quit making them. not sure what else i could tell you right now.

The Fun Bat is an ARF, JR or JC Hobbies in Pennsylvania I think distributed it. They were foam core around balsa spars and sub ribs. I had 8 of em, none of them lasted more than 13 flights. The Funbats were better flying planes. They had flying wings that if you didn't aim it straight at the ground when the engine started dying you lost all control of the darn thing. The wing is too thick for the elevons to have any control otherwise. Then again, I had it many years ago when I had only flown my trainer, an ugly stick, mid-star and Gremlin. The Gremlin was 2000% better airplane. More capable and resistant.

Instead of buying the Funbats, build HORs (Hell On Rails) from www.spadtothebone.com Get the 2 mil for the wings from www.harborsales.com Make sure and call the people at harbor sales, the online computer will try and charge you 2000 bucks for shipping when it's more like 5 bucks. You can have 4 HORs for the price of one Funbat and the performance will be about the same. Then, if everyone is hooked into combat, you can look for a full fledge SSC bird and bet those. The Magnum 15 will give you plenty of whump for the HOR.
