If you are consistent, and use the same load each time, and the same termination voltage, there is no reason that you couldn't create a usable table for comparison purposes. Depending on the size or the plane, and its normal load, I would use either .5amp or 1.0amp loads.

If you want accuracy, you would have to watch the pack so you catch it at the same end voltage (I would recommend 1.1v or 1.0v), otherwise your results would be skewed somewhat. This just makes it a nuisance, since once you start the process you are stuck checking on it often. But yes, its easily done with a meter if thats whats available. It can take anywhere from 45 minutes to over 2 hours depending on the capacity and load.

Just make sure its an easy process, since you don't to get into the habit of not doing it because its too much work. Its all too easy to procrastinate that way. I use an Alpha 4, so I can cycle 4 packs as the same time. I just press a button and walk away. Because its so easy, I've fallen into a quick workable process with minimum effort. Thats important since I probably have 20 or 30 batteries in service at the same time, and cycling them two or three times a year adds up.

Thanks for the input. I can't really spend much money at the moment and I already have a voltage tester that puts a load on the pack. It will just be a bit of a hassle. Thanks a bunch.

You can cycle without analyzing, but you cannot analyze without cycling.

Both Sirius, and Hughes recommend analyzing your battery packs.
Sirius sells a battery analyzer called Super test. I have one. I also have an accucycle. Any decent cycler will enable you to test your batteries. They don't have to be super accurate, just watch for gradual changes in capacity. If you're getting a constant decrease, your battery is starting to slide. If you get a marked drop in capacity, re-test a couple of times. If capacity has taken a substantial drop suddenly, your battery is in big trouble. Get rid of it.

On the Hughes RC website, you can read the complete operating manual which explains, memory effect (myth), positive peak detection, and battery analysis (testing).

I love my schulze, and orbit both are awesome! they will do anything you could ever need to the orbit about $260 charges one pack at the time the isl8 3 packs both chart all kinds of info regarding to your packs. they are upgradeable. that is as new eproms- new pack come out you can upgrade your charger, also the algorithms that are use to detect the status of your packs get better and better. these two are the chargers that you will ever need.

AH,

Just got back from a day and a half of flyin'!!!!!!!

Just couldn't sit at this damn computer for ever!!!!!!

Yeah I thought that when I mentioned the "sirius products"
people would understand that I was refering to the "super test"

I forget the limitations that a "computer" has!!!!!!!

As far as the guy that mentioned the Sculze isl8-936,
AMEN bro!!!!!!!!!
That thing kicks some SERIOUS butt!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I'm not so sure that trying to "contest" or shooting holes in EVERYONES comments is the best way to go for me,
I've got building and flying to tend too, before my eyes get fried from this monitor!!!!!!
Best of luck(and flying) to EVERYONE that has replied!!!!!!!
Have a great day guys.
