Hoverup -> Will it work? (3/13/2003 9:42:17 PM)

With the stock motor and the recommended weight in the instructions, I was getting 5-6 Minutes on CP-1700 eight cell NiCad packs. Using a Hacker C40 12s, 16t pinion, MS CF 395mm main rotor blades and eight cell packs of Sanyo HC-SR 2600 mah NiMh's, I get 8-10 minutes consistently. The problem with just going to larger capacity NiCads is the added weight. You get more flying time but not as much as you might expect due to the weight increase. Going Brushless and using NiMh batteries will break out of the trap of diminishing returns up to a point. The next step up will be available when the newest Lithium Polymer High Output cells become commonly available. Hope this helps. Cheers - Boyd;) AMA 80393 Major USAF Retired
