Earlier posting dealt with correctly identifying Tiger 712 now on display in Germany as a 2 Kompanie tank. To this day it is incorrectly identified as a 1 Kompanie tank.

My next task is to identify all of the 2 Kompanie tanks as they were renumbered upon joining the pz.regt 7 in February '43. After some losses they were re-organized and numbered again. We know this because the 712 originally had an 8 number as it was a 2 Kompanie tank of the 501st. We also know that a Tiger and PZIII both carried the number 833. Which was destroyed first hasn't been determined yet.

In March '43 when the pz.abt 504 began arriving, they took over the former 501st tanks and there may have been some renumbering again.

So far, I only have photographic evidence of 813, 823, 833. 823 and 833 were scuttled together in March '43. What became of 813? What was her number with the 501st? The only 2 Kompanie tanks with original turret numbers are the 231 and 241. The 231 was detroyed in January '43 and would not have been renumbered, wrecking the numbering scheme proposed by many. Also have some photos of 2 Kompanie Tiger(s) without turret.

In reading about other German armor, they had false serial numbers, I wonder if the command and headquarters Tigers ever existed as there are NO photos of them, not even combat reports.

So, we know that the 231 was the first Tiger killed in Afrika, the 823 and 833 were scuttled together, the 712 is a former 2 Kompanie tank (which one?) and what number was the 813? What number did the 241 adopt? Does anyone have any photos of these or other 2 Kompanie tanks?
