Joe,
Have the floats in hand, got the last Cub ARF Chief Aircraft had in stock, just got the new 12X today, have the 26GT sitting from my old DP Ultimate, now just have to get home sometime in the next month or two to get them all introduced to each other and head over to the pond in Anaheim also. Can't wait!!

I talked to Jeff at Horizon Hobby tech support last night and he wants me trying to turn the Electronic Ignition Module around so the label is facing the firewall and Side "D" is facing the engine crankcase. So I will try that and see what happens. Still wondering if anyone else has had the cowl off of the PNP and how the module was mounted.

Thanks
Ed

I've had the cowl off of my PnP to replace a missing motor mount and to remove that bulky Y-connector that is in the fuel line. I also replaced the yellow fuel line and installed a fuel filter whilst I was in there... While I had the cowl off I noticed that the ignition was hard mounted to the firewall, but did not notice its orientation. My cowl is currently on how will I know if the D side is away from the firewall?

BTW my floats arrived today. They sure are pretty!

GalenB, Who did you purchase your floats from if you do not mind be asking. I have mine on order through my local hobby shop.
I am just curious if you got them direct from Horizion, or through your local hobby shop. It sounded like to me that horizion had already shipped all the floats that they had in stock to all the distributors and hobby shops over two weeks ago. I'm wondering if there are floats that are still in the pipelines heading to the hobby shops. I am hoping that my floats will hit my hobby shop in the next few days.

GalenB,

What was required to remove the Plug-n-Play cowl? I need to remove mine to tighten the engine mounting bolts. I've heard it's a bear to remove. Did you take off the muffler?

Thanks,

I first removed the 4 cowl screws. Next I removed the 2 muffler screws. Be careful getting the muffler out as there is a gasket on the muffler. It is kind of tight getting it out of the hole in the cowling, but it will come. Next remove the 2 screws on the carburator. Again use caution when removing it. Then the cowl should come off.

Good Luck

The 'D' surface is the surface behind the label. So if you can see in the cowl you should not be able to see the label on the Electronic Iginition.

I got my floats direct for Horizon Hobby. I was suprised that they came in so soon after placing the back order. I was also surprized that HH sent me an email asking me to confirm that I still wanted them. As you have all seen the demand for this plane and the floats is exceeding all expectations!

Okay I went and looked again and I can see the label in my ignition battery. I guess this means it's installed backwards...

This is what I did. Getting the muffler out from under the cowl can be a little tricky. You need to wiggle it around until it drops out. On the other side you only need to remove the velocity stack from the carb to remove the cowl. I removed the stack and put the bolts back to hold the carb on while removing the cowl and making the changes/fixes that I made...

got mine off today with only removing the carb. re-plumed the fuel lines. the clunck line was not cluncking.. this has been the first bit of maintenance that i've done.. I don't know how many flights I'vegot on this thing but it has been my all time favorite plane! Flying it at the river this weekend, i will post pics when I get back. Can't wait to try the floats.

Agreed on the cowl removal...no need to remove the muffler, just the carb and four cowl bolts (and prop ).

I too replaced my fuel line inside the tank as it was so stiff it would not allow the clunk to "follow" gravity. Check this on yours before any extended inverted flight.
