i was in hobbytown and a guy was buying a s-maxx and he asked about the warranty on the truck and the guy at the counter said if you take it out of the box and its broke bring it back, but as soon as you put fuel in it its yours and there is NO warranty. is that true most of the time? if so the redcat engine exchange is a pretty fair deal i would think.

Some LHS are like that and thats why I don't push sales on line....I sell retail and give good warranty and service also. If a person pays retail from my store they get batteries, fuel and personal help out in front of my shop to break it in. For one year as long as the customer buys the parts he breaks or upgrades, I install them free. I really like redcats and after I go through them I sell them with my own brand name on them but I spend hours on each one before it goes out the door

no warranty to the hobbyshop. all warranty goes thru the manufacturer.

I'd just get a new engine. ABN cant hold a candle to a ABC engine.

hobby shops are not allowed to warranty stuff thru alot of distrubitors. they want the end user to do the warranty. Redcat really has one of the best engine plans, traxxas wants $130 for a replacement 3.3 and you pay to ship yours to them, thats pretty much the same price at your local hobby shop, at least redcat gives you 50% off their list price, thats a pretty good deal.

there is reasoning behind it... they know that we know that the engines are 40-85 dollar engines at their cost. why would we pay for a part thats the same price of the engine at their cost? I know back in 04 that the SH engine cost $75, i dont know if that changed for 07.
