no no no no no, dont do this, too many noobs think that they need a big block to go fast and look cool, if you want an engine capable of overpoweing your car and ripping out the drivetrain, the 18tz is the way to go, also gear your car up for more speed

someone should make it work and put a wheely bar on the car. of you could do it be an awesome drag car. but you really dont need a big engine, have a rs4 3 type ss w .12 nitro star and believe me the thing flies. amybe id like to have the .18 for better acceleration but ill just have to pick up some gears to fix that, after all i just have it as a basher.

i dont think i NEED a big block engine to go fast... im fully aware of whats out there and was wondering if it is physically possible to put a 4.6 onto the chassis.
and to 'hpi apollo'... im not a newbie at this, been doing it for years now and was just wondering about the validity of the idea..
i have modded it out, its more of an off road thing now but equally good onroad.

one final question, would an engine this size rip my car apart?
thanks alot

yes, you can fit a big block in there but you have to get some custom parts, big blocks have a bit larger footprint on the chassis, i beleive you have to get a different clutch, mounts, gears, ect, and engine that size could 1. rip any pair of tires awart in a few runs (i destoryed some with my os 18cv-rx and its not even as powerful as an 18tz) an engine that size especially with the evo would eventually break alot in the drivetrain, since the evo has weaker drivetrain components

BIg block a Super nitro rally with a 2 speed. thats the way to go. The Super nitro is pretty much a 1/8 scale anyways. And most of not all big blocks are SG shafts

It is possible to do this I have done it I have an RS4 3 RTR with a OFNA .21 8 port race motor shoe horned into mine using the engine mount from a HPI Savage, and the 3 shoe clutch from the savage. The hardest part is lining the motor up on the chassis and then drilling out mounting holes.
I decided to try it with my RS4 3 just to see if it could be done. One drawback of using the Savage MM is that it raises the engine up in the chassis making it a bit hard to start on my starter box you have to line it up perfectly and I also had to have the chassis opening machined out a bit.

I also have an RS4 2 RTR with a OFNA .21 8 Port w/boost motor shoe horned into it this one was much easier because I was
able to get my hands on a wolf-pack engine mount which unfortunately is no longer produced (at least not that I can find)

I am new to the boards so I don't have pics up but I hope to in the near future.

Its fun to do some mods to a street car but really there is no point in jamming a BIG BLOCK engine into a 1/10 chassis. The only 1/10 scale anything that needs a bigger motor is a Tmaxx and a Revo. But even with those MT's the 3.3 is a .20 (if im correct)

But aside from making the chassis fit the mounts for a big block. you also get to figure out how to fit a rear exhaust header on to the chassis

Simply put. if you want to put too much power into your rs4 3 (or any rs4) get an OS .18 TZ(TX) engine. I've had one and finding tires that can handle the power became the main issue. Its a great engine and you MIGHT be able to find them for $135 or so

There is never a point to doing anything in this hobby besides having fun
but I do have to admit I always get alot of looks when I bring my car out at the drag strip
and people look at it and go what engine is in that?!?!?!
and when I tell them it's a 1/8 scale motor in a 1/10 scale car it usually just floors them LOL.
If and when I blow the motor up in my RS4 2 I will probably put a small block back into it maybe the OS .18 but
until then I'll just keep turning heads
