he just goes on and on because he thinks he's elite cuz he works at a hobby shop... automatically makes him a pro huh? Nope.

Note how he says that cost of it probably is 40 usd? Well think about it for almost every other engine on the market... all of em are darn near the same exact size, and most companies use the SAME material. Of course costs are going to be low... its a SMALL 2 CYCLE ENGINE. If you want to pay for the 150-300% markup for other engines that you think are superior, then by all means go for it. STS does OEM for about 4 manufacturers out in the rc world... there are a bunch of STS made engines on the market that you dont even know about.

Keep posting, because your ignorance is growing stronger and stronger.

I dont understand why your are so offended??? yea i work in a hobby shop so HELLO IVE SEEN MY FAIR SHARE OF MOTORS wouldnt you???? and no the STS is not made out of the same material as high end motors..........if it wasnt we wouldnt have this converstion right now i only my opnion and you have to take it personally like if ive offended you if you get all pissy about something so stupid im sure you must be a real peice of work in person........

i PERSONALLY would rather pay for a high end motor i know its gonig to work correctly than spend 100 bucks on a motor that is going to be a surprise in a box....

and back to my orginal question THAT NO ONE HAS ANSWER'D how does STS justify a 60 dollar mark up???if they';d say better metals, carb, bearings ext..... then OK i can see it but 60 extra dollars for a little change in timing??? like i sayed for 20 dollars more you can get a PICCO 28 P3 and it will outlast the STS 100 times over......or if you dont wanna spend those 20 bucks you can get the LRP28 for the same price of this STS motor.......... and have a very well build long lasting motor

i can understand you defending STS since they sponcer you BUT U CANT ACT BLIND TO THE FACT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS..........i didnt want to cuase problem with any one this forum....since i know KEMO and 46U are educated RCGUYS and i know 46U is a cool guy since ive gotten along with him from the start............but there is 2 sides to every story and if i pist you guys off im sorry............i'll leave this this topic alone since i dont see any postivity comeing out of it

I myself wish STS would raise the prices of their motors, and at the same time spend more on producing them..... I love the way STS perform, they make killer power and are excelent of fuel. They are well designed from a performance standpoint, but the quality of construction is limited by the final price of the motor...They should consider upping the price and material quality, as i feel their biggest ussie is they are in a price range that really limits the quality of construction... STS has to make compromises in construction to bring these motors to market so cheap...

Strange are you getting a bunch of air bubbles in the fuel line? What fuel and glow plug are you running?

I was using 30% with 12% oil and then I switched to 20% with 12% oil and I have tried every heat range I know of and still runs hot??? The thing is driving me crazy. Any other ideas???? I didn't really notice any air bubbles in the line

I can switch back to 30%, I have tried odonnel, fox, hpi, os. Is there a certain type of plug that the sts engines like??? I have 2 temp guns one from radio shack and one from Raytek which was not cheap and they both register about the same temp. I'll take any help I can get right now. Thanks in advance Jim. ONe other thing I notice in the manuel for the motor is they recommend between for brake in is 5 to 15% fuel???

I have run both 30% and 20% and did not have a problem with either. Let me think about it and email a couple of people and see what they have to say. I had a hard time on factory settings on my STS 28 just to get it hot enough for break in. Something is not right. One other thing to check take the head off and see what shims are on it. You should have 3.

They should come with 3 and normally should not take any out till after break in. Some times they stick together. But with 20% I do not think this is problem. What are you settings right now? What happens if you richen it up? As far as plugs as long as you are running standard long should not matter a lot on break in. I normally run hot for at least break in and either hot or medium after. I sent a couple emails and waiting on replies that might take a while. All so you might try PM supertib as he has a good bit of experience with STS. I have never had this problem with the 4 STS engines I have right now. Matter of fact I have not had a much if any problem with them.

I just checked again and there is only 2 shimms, I also have 2 of the D21E motors and they run like a raped ape, maybe thats my problem is I am missing one shim, Would a shim on a 21 fit, I could pull the head on one of those and try, do you know if it will fit??? Also s it normal to have a copper shim and a steel one??? I thought they should be a copper??
