If you wanted a fun plane and were willing to spend a WHOPPING $100 what would you buy?

I am tired of messing with my YS-140L in my 2x2 ship, I have the Whip and Phenom RTF but almost nothing for goofing around.

I have a K&B-48, Tower-75, and YS-60RE

I was thinking another profile? But for $100 bucks it does not look good-

I really like the Cermark Javelin II for $119

Nitro models has the Polecat for $125 or so---

I wish I could find another Hobbico Avance to goof with!

Razor, have you ever thrown together a Pizza Box Flyer? They are a gas, down and dirty 3D to the max.
If this thread was about 200 mph for $100, I would say start by stealing a stop sign that has a good straight grain 4x4 post, then start carving a mold.

I'd look for a Viper. I stayed up late last night and put one together. Took me four hours to go from box to flight ready, and that included the recomended mods. The OS .46AX pulls it nicely, although I think it's about to get an FX on the nose. The AX is slated for a MOJO .40
Watch Tower's website for scratch and dent sales and you can grab one of these for next to nothing. Mine came without landing gear, and was a bit cheaper than normal.

RAZOR:

Hay guy, do the "fun fighter" P-51 racer, install the K & B and let us know if the thing will scoot and grove reasonably. The wing span looks about right to do ok with a 48, if it flys well, perhaps we have another T-34 class type to think about. The T-34's are yawn, nap, wake up, bank -turn & go back to sleep almost speed. Something between the T-34 and the real fast stuff would be very good for club racing. We need something like that locally, and I suspect elswhere. Locally, no one wants to fly the trainer class because it's beneath their preceived skills, or the fast open class cause of the two old tretcherous guys have been unbeaten for so many years, they seen unbeatable (not), so the majority stay with the T-34's, and occasionally try to knock the old guys off. You are just the guy to lead this crazy pack to the promised land!! ENJOY

I have a couple of the Phoenix Stregas listed above. A very nice arf and quite fast. I have a Jett 50 in one and just stuffed a YS 1.10 in the other. Had one with a YS 60SE in it but a bad battery turned it to dust. That is a great bang for the buck and Tower has free shipping right now so it will only cost you $99 to your door. Any one of the engines you listed will be very impressive in the Strega.

Providing they both survive our pylon races in a couple of weeks, I will have them at Rabbit for the Revver bash.

Blessings, Terry
