Its been fun flying this but I'm thinking I should move on to something more challenging, possibly another edf with landing gear. It's been a great introduction to jets and it has held up great, including the electronics. But it's starting to bore me, I have flown this nearly every weekend since the day I bought it so the airframe is pretty worn out, and there are some deep gashes on the bottom of the intake. The damage is all cosmetic though, the plane still flies like new.

I'm thinking of selling the thing to make money for a new radio, I have never sold an airplane before so I don't know where to start pricing it. How much do you think I should be able to get for a worn out EF-16 with 2 HS-55s?

Im undecided on whether to go for the Kyosho F-16 or this Phase 3 model.
Anyone with experience of these models your ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks guys.

I second that! I'd also like to know the pros and cons of each

Ive been checking out the specs of both and the phase3 looks the better option.
The all flying tail means that rolls will be crisper. Its slightly larger so you can get a bigger battery in there.
The kyosho looks better but i will paint the phase 3 myself. Just have to watch the weight.

Phase 3 is the best foamie F-16 on the market it flies great slows
down for landing and does not tip stall.
I have flown a high powered version of a 90mm F-16
and the flight characteristics are the same. It is a good ducted fan
trainer and should give you months of enjoyment, if you leave
it stock and just go fly. The speed control works great and the
fan unit pushes the plane around at approximately 65 to 70 m.p.h.
in a diving high speed pass. I use the Thunder Power 2070mah 11.1 (3) cell packs
and the extreme V2 2200mah 11.1 (3)cell packs. good for approximately
5 minutes of flight using throttle management.

I can't decide yet which plane i want to buy, a Phase 3 EF-16 or the Electrifly L-39, both planes looked very good.
As for the F16 i have some Dymond 3S-2250mA 18C lipos weight 191gr, can i use these for the F16 or is it too heavy?

Ok I have a question my phase 3 F-16 flys great and I luv it. But I was flying it this weekend and came out of a dive haulling butt and all of a sudden the motor stopped but I still was able to land it. I touched the ESC and it was burning up. I am running a 3s 2200 mah battery and was wondering if the motor is still good. I am prepared to buy a new esc but just wanted to see if I have to buy a new motor also. I am kinda new to electrics so can someone help me out.

191g on the battery? NO PORBLEM. My 2250 Lightning power 25C packs weigh in at 208g and launches are still very easy. Must make sure you place the battery into a location where the plane balances ok.

edit... (with the lightning power lipo) I flew for 6 minutes yesterday and only had to put 1300mah back in. I did lots of WOT passes and high alt motor off stalls. Gonna go for 8 min tomorrow and see how much power is used up. I like to complete a turn at half throttle and slowly roll it on to wide open throttle 100 yards before the runway. I like the jet way better than my Stryker C.

How did you balance your CG with the 208gr lipo?

Other question:
Because of the lipo weight the fan should be mounted on 4cm which i did.
When i mount the exhaust the transparent pipe is larger then the black exhaust (about 3 cm).
Can i cutoff the 3cm from the transparent pipe or should i leave it as it is?

Thanks,

I balanced the plane exactly how the instruction said. You will want to place your fan in the futhest back position that they show. The battery can now be adjusted easily to attain correct C.G. Even my really light 1800 mah pack can still be used with the fan in that position.

I maiden my EF-16 yesterday. I had a big problem to get the plane straight, the ailerons where not correct alaigned (fabric error), so i had to do a lot of trimming to correct this.
But know it's correct, the lipo is almost in the end position of the cockpit.
I leave the end of the pipe at his length, the tube is not as wide as the fan, so it should blast more air in this position as when i make the pipe smaller (wider diameter).

Here's also a short movie of it.

The longer fan tube length could actually adversly effect (although not significantly) the airflow, as it now has to travel a further path to exit. I'd bet, if you trimmed the clear fan tube to just within the end of the tail cone, you'd still have the smaller diameter, but might see a little better performance because of an inch or two less internal travel for the air.
