I modified one of my Honey Bee FP helis by replacing the stock Esky motor with the Slo-Max 300 high performance brushed motor using a 10T pinion. I also replaced the stock Esky main rotor blades with the Kyosho M24 blades. The stock skids were also replaced with Super Skids. The Slo-Max 300 combined with the M24 blades really increases the headspeed. The M24 blades also have very little pitch, which greatly reduces ballooning/pitching up of the heli. Transitional lift is also greatly reduced. The M24s are also 1/2 in. shorter than the stock blades. All other parts of the heli including the tail motor and the 4-in1 (receiver, esc, mixer, rate gyro) are stock.

The only drawback to this setup is that the stock tail motor just can't keep up with the Slo-Max 300 at times. The Slo-Max will tend to overpower the stock tail motor. This results with the tail tending to lag a little; however, this is very manageable, though. A solution would be to install a direct drive tail motor, which I may do in the future. In the mean time, I'm having a good time throwing around this modified HBFP. Below is a video of one of my flights from last evening. Excuse the rough landing...no damage done.

i can only dream flying it the way you do...i can barely hover mine ..and i crash... i probaly need to put flight sim time
where do you get m24 blades? and do you use 3cell lipo?

i also noted you replaced it with 10Tpinion do i have to do that on mine if i use a 3 cell lipo?

right now my blade cx2 is having more airtime than my HBFP as i keep crashing it and im awaing a superskids and mainframe replacement

thanks for sharing some info and nice flight video..

Thanks, Kamov. I purchased the M24 blades from eBay. The eBay store is called ToyHausInc.

I'm only using a 2S battery. The Slo-Max 300 still gets very hot with the 2S battery and 10T pinion (which came with the stock motor). I'm going to try a 9T pinion to see if that reduces some of the motor heat. I don't know about using a 3S battery with this setup. I would be a little apprehensive to go with the 3S when the Slo-Max gets very hot with just the 2S battery.

Regarding crashing your HBFP...just hang in there and keep up the practice. I just started flying helis 8 months ago. I had no prior RC experience of any kind. I never thought I would learn to hover tail-in. Then once I learned to hover tail-in, I thought I would never learn to hover side-in. Then, of course, when I learned to hover side-in, I thought there was no way I would ever learn to hover nose-in. Once I learned to hover in all orientations, I thought I would never move beyond hovering and actually learn forward flight. My secret is lots of simulator time and patience. I have spent many more hours on the sim than actually flyng the real helis. I recommend purchasing one of the high-end sims such as Phoenix RC. Real Flight, Aerofly Deluxe, Reflex XTR or FS One. I own Phoenix RC. Sure, these high-end sims will cost you around $200, but your flying skills will advance quicker and, of course, the sim will save you many dollars in crash repairs. I never tried any hovering orientation or maneuver on my real helis until I first had it mastered on the sim.

Good luck...you will get there. Just be patient.

I have Clear View, whats better about those others, I'm curious if I wasted my $30 (but $200 is out of the question for me)

I wouldn't say that you wasted $30 on Clearview. You get for what you pay. The high-end sims are just superior in the flight characteristics and graphics departments, for starters. There is no comparison.
