I ordered two sets of these from Helidirect...........

http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=117_120&products_id=516

These could very well be flown in their stock form. I personally do not like the slowed response of longer blades on the HBK, so I cut mine down to the same length as the HBK woodies and CFs. These blades are still heavier then the stock blades so it does slow response and headspeed down some. So I took it even further and drilled some more holes in the blades to get more weight off them. Weights are as follows.

Stock Woodies: 16g each (32g total)
Esky CF: 16g each (32g total)
Stock Plastic: 24g (48g total)
Plastics Cut Down: 22.5g (45g total)
Plastics Cut and Driled: 20g (40g total)

When I got the two sets of blades, the first thing I did was weight them and balance them. Both sets were spot on. Weighed the same and had the same CoG. I have already put these blades to the "test". Heli tipped a bit in the garage causing the blades to grind on the concrete floor at full headspeed. I could barely see a mark on the blades. Woodies would have been destroyed. CF's would have had damage as well. Also, I use my kids plastic picinic table as a Heli pad sometimes . Well, I came in too fast and too low. Blades struck the table. I had all the "normal" parts break minus the blades. Well, not entirely. One blade cracked. There was a break from one of the square holes to the tailing edge. It was broking all the way through the blade. A little CA glue and they were as good as new. Being these are plastic blades, the CA sticks to it REALLY well.

Here is a picture of Woodies, CFs, Stock Plastic and my Modded Plastic Blades. Keep in mind, you can fly these stock with no problem what so ever. At $6 per blades set and their durablility, they are a GREAT set of blades.

Are you using a pattern to cut the plastics?

Thats a really cool idea, I'd like to give it a try on mine, although I do like the CF's myself.

The bottom blade is how it comes to you. The square hole are factory cut. This was done I am sure to help keep the weight of the blades down. I just extended it further by drilling the HOLEs you see on the blades. I used my drill press and a guide. Nothing special.

CF blades are nice. No doubt about it. But I am at the point now that when I take out a blade, even CF blades will get destroyed. And at 30 bux a pop, I got tired of replacing them. Crashing from 2/3 feet is one thing. Going in from 10-15 is another. These blades take the same abuse as the CF blades at a fraction of the cost. I can toast 5 sets of these blades for every 1 set of CF. That is good enough for me .

Has anyone tried these blades OR tried ordering anything from this company???. I'm always skeptical about ordering and having something shipped from out of the country. It looks like they are claimin gto be carbon fiber but the description is somewhat vague.

If those are for Walkera, you may need a 1mm washer I believe to make it fit the blade holders. Also, those are a bit heavier than stock blades. About 22 grams more. I think stock woods are 30 grams. These say 52 grams, so keep that in mind.

I doubt those are carbon fiber. It says "fiber", but that could be fiberglass . The plastic blades from helidirect are the same length as those, weight less then those and are cheaper. I can HIGHLY recommend these plastic blades. They are EXTREMELY tough. I am at the point now that when I crash, it's big, IE, losing control at 10-15feet. I have lawn augered these blades twice now from about 10 ft, tried to grind the tips off with the concrete floor in my garage twice and ran the blades into the kids picinic table. Guess what, i am still using the same blades and if you cannot tell then been through all that. If my heli was wearing Woodies in those instances, I would be down 5 sets of blades and $50. If it was wearing CF blades in those instances, I would prolly have 3 sets of destroyed blades and 2 sets with alot of scuffs and down $90-120 bux. With these blades... I paid $6 for them, spent 30 mins cutting them down and they survived ALL those instances. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THESE BLADES!!!!!!!!!! I wish I would have found them about 2 sets of CF and 5 Sets of Wooodies sooner.

How about these 290mm blades? Might be worth trying for under $4 a pair SHIPPED!!!

I am pretty sure those are Walkera blades.

That is a really good deal, but I gotta think that being that are not really Carbon Fiber blades that they will not take blade strikes very well. I have an itchy feeling those would be just as bad as a set of woodies. Might take scraps better then woodies, but would not take a strike better then woodies.

Also you would not be able to cut those down so you would be stuck with that length. I myself do not like running 290mm blades on my HBK. Sure its stable as all get out, but the response is ALOT slower as well. Pretty amazing what a difference you get by just taking 15mm off each blade.

Honestly, order a set of those plastics from helidirect. I would do it if you got other things to order as well as the shipping on just a single set of blades is prolly gonna be $4. Still even at $10 for those blades you won't regret it.

I have made my own blades out of plastic for the honey Bee Cp2 Have not tried to make any for the King yet.
I found what works good to is aircraft plywood that you can get at your LHS. VERY durable just cover with monocote. I drilled holes to keep the weight down. Again Have not tried to make any for the King yet. Ben thinking of making a set out of walnut for the king
