I test flew a new Prestige today with a Hacker A60S/Apc 18x10pn/Jeti Spin 99. It cut out after a short in the air, I went back to idle and, and seemed to rearm itself and again cut out after a short time. Ground testing revealed that motor would cut out after 28 seconds. If you back to idle it would run for another 28 seconds. The same thing occured at various throttle settings. I checked the programming box and the controller was not triped by the over temp or over current protection. Max temp= 56 C Max current = 82 A. The battery was fully charged.

Any ideas? It's tough doing the advanced sequence within 28 seconds!

Many people have had similar issues with the Spin 99. Probably needs to go back to factory.

Scott, that was quick. You interested in a used Castle Creations HV-85? I'll sell it to you at a reasonable price. Contact me by email if you are interested. So far my Hacker Masterspin 99 version has been working well for me with my Hacker C50 13XL.

You may ending using the Jeti 90 until the issue with the Spin 99 get resloved. I have gone through 3 of them now and I am still not happy, so I switched to the Jeti 90 a voila, no problems what so ever.

Hi,

Would like to know if this symptom happens at Hacker Master SPIN 99 Competition as well ?
I wonder why Hacker choose the SPIN over the previous OPTO version from JETI.
Thanks..

Hi all,

I have both the Hacker/ Jeti Spin 99 competition and the Jeti Spin 99 controllers. I have had no problems with either of these controllers, both are pulling around 87 amps at full power.

I agree the start up is not as nice as the the previous Jeti 90 controller from what i have observed. I find when i start the motor i just have to be positive with it, move the throttle stick quickly initially.

I enjoy the features of the Spin controllers but i am wary of some the readings i have recorded.

Overall i have been extremely happy.

Chris

To date and fingers crossed as usual, I have gone 86 flights without a problem with the Hacker Masterspin 99. I am using it on a C50 13XL Comp. It could be a different story for the outrunners in combination with it.

It turned out that I had the wrong lead from the controller to the receiver. I connected the short lead to the receiver because It was labeled "rec". Reading through another thread I realized the "rec" label had a red line through it, like an internation traffic symbol. My eyes aren't what they used to be. I have since connected the longer lead to the receiver and all is fine. i just have to find a throttle curve that I'm comfortable with.

That is rich! It takes a real man to admit a mistake. Thanks for sharing that. I'll put it in my mental log of things to look at when stuff doesn't work like it's supposed to.
