it was a brand new st-rr...I have not had it happen to mine, and honestly, cannot see how it would happen?? (was yours a STR and you upgraded it to ST-RR?)

i see now , the new hard axles sit deeper in the cup. i havent seen it happen yet with the strr but im guessing with enough arm flex from a hit, it is possible. no issues with mine.

gtsum, thanks for the use of your setup set today.

just redid the shocks with the 40/45 losi oils today.( for those wonderin thats a 550/650 conversion) the truck feels dialed , hope it handles that way!got me some fresh holeshots for sunday for when the track is wet.

huh? and all this time I thought 500 meant 50 weight, etc... so my 600 in the front, 700 in the rear is actually 42.5 and 47.5 weights?

yes.... kyosho oils have a diffrent measurement for viscosity than american oils like losi! 40 and 45 are as close to the kyosho setup as u can get with out paying 8 dollars a bottle for kyosho oil
the 42.5 and 47.5 will work too!

here is a list (I have a PDF file, but cannot post it):

Xray oils (CTS measurement, which should be very, very close to the kyosho and mugen oils, but each company is going to be slightly different)

500cts = 37.5 - 40 Losi (not exact)
600cts = 42.5 Losi
700cts = 47.5 Losi
800cts = 52.5 Losi
900cts = 57.5 Losi

The american system (WT) is NOT linear..there are large gaps between 50 and 60 weight oil..the CTS system is linear and is what Kyosho, Mugen, and Xray use...the NEW associated oils have the CTS rating on them (as well as the WT rating). The associated oils are lighter across the board then Losi (for each WT)

Somebody posted pictures of some commercially made skids for the ST-RR. I made some for my ST-RR but added a little lip on the back edge to protect my Aluminum King Headz suspension block.

Very nice Shark.

Nice find Gtsum, thanks for that.

Are buying kyosho's $8 bottles really worth it? Bet that can get expensive very quick if you want to have different weights on hand to try different setups.

well, I use only xray or kyosho oils...the cts system is uniform, and you know exactly what you are getting...you can fine tune the oil weights more also. Also, and I have no proof of this, but I feel the xray/kyosho oils are more conistant and do not fade in a long main....it might be my imagination, but the times I have ran the Losi oils, sometimes the shocks seemed to fade..I am sure it is in my head, but if that means using the cts oils and not thinking about it during a race, then that is what I will run (cuz thinking about your shocks during a race is not good!).

I just orderd the Inferno RTR. I am wondering if anyone has ant tips for upgrades, if any, and what roto start will work for this truck. I haven't had very good luck with pull starters. I have a Hellfire SS I will be selling soon.

I had a ball at the track today. Had a couple issues with the clutch and engine tuning at first but after I got a better tune (still not in tune) from Pklot and the clutch issue sorted out, the truck was even more of a handful to control than last time. I cant even feather the throttle or anything and its spinning tires as if I had it full throttle or something. Was no way I could get over half throttle on the track, I did that 1 time and the truck nearly flew into the first turn on the big jump right in front of the drivers stand. Even with all the extra power I had with a better tune, I was still able to control it around the track for the most part. Did even better going around the track than last time. Run time is probably around 4 mins less than a .21, but I also dont run the restrictor atm. In the end the reciever battery went dead on me, and the whole truck is covered in RB orange dirt, but i didnt break a thing, still running with the wingmount thats broke on one side and it still sits nice and straight on the truck... top notch quality from Kyosho.

If its for bashing, upgrade the servos and controller if possible. Not sure what chassis upgrades it may need. If its for racing, cancel the rtr order, sell the wellfair ss, and buy the kit, and you will never be sorry for doing so. Everyone that has the st-rr has smiles on their faces and is capable of winning any race if they have the right setup and can drive. This truck will not fail you and does not need upgrades for the most part. Only thing I would get (which I do have) is te kingheadz ez change motor mount.

Thanks for the tips. We do race but only on a track we built at a friends house. Not very organized, just for fun. No one has top of the line stuff. I just wasn't happy with the Hellfire SS. I was going to wait for the Associated Truggy to come out but I am sure it will be very expensive when it does. So I wanted to try the Kyosho. I am sure if I like this one I will get the RR.

So basically your just bashing and the main things that should be upgraded first is servos, then upgrade the controller. Since those are the only connection you have with your car you dont want either of them glitching or failing at some point. And also get a fail safe. Then when/if you sell it you can keep those and buy a kit and put them in there. All I know is the associated truggy will be cheaper than the st-rr which is $650, probably not by much though. You probably will like the rtr inferno st but if you get the st-rr, it will be one of the best kit purchases you can make. I still havent broke anything and I been running it hard for 3 months now.
