For some strange reason, the right side front steering knuckles keep getting stripped out on the bottom. Im pissed now because those CNC knuckles are so expensive and i strip one of those out like i do the cheap standard knuckles. There has got to be some kind of problem with that side of my truck because i dont never have any other problem except that 1 knuckle (unless i do something stupid). Has anyone else had any kinds of problems when they upgraded the knuckles or is it just me being the unlucky one? Can i retap it and be good to go or will it never be the same and need replacing? For now i had to put the cheap one on in its place.

Its going to be 100+ outside all weekend.

Dang pro, thats ruff. If you didnt take the threads out of the inside of the knuckles you might be able to just rethread the screw in and save the threads that are still good. If you retap it, your maken the hole bigger and would need to use a larger screw, not sure a larger screw will fit into the collar bushing. Might be able to just tap it with the same size screw though, I would try that first.

Pro - did it strip out when you tried taking it off? If so, next time you go to take it off, heat it up with a heat gun to break the bond of the threadlock. I have heard of a LOT of people stripping those out if they do not use a heat gun

I never seen a body like that, thats definatly going to shine out on the track.

Nascar, I see that it wont work if i tap the hole bigger. Its stripped so when i go to put the screw in, over half the screw slides in and theres only a few threads left on the inner part. When i try to tighten it it just spins.

Gtsum, it stripped itself while i was running the truck, and at the time i didnt have thread lock on it.

ProRCRacer88, I also had the CNC knuckles strip out. It's been a while so I can't remember which side it was, but I do know it was the bottom screw. I had loctite on the screw (blue) and it still backed out, which is what caused it to strip out. The screw backed out and had about 1 or 2 mm of screw still in the knuckle, then a hard hit or landing just pulled the screw right out of the knuckle, stripping that 1 or 2mm of thread out of the knuckle.

Nice clean run there Shark. So when it stripped out what did you replace it with? Im thinking its no use to me no more because i can put a bigger screw in and if i stripped out the first time for no reason then it will definatly do it again even if i tap the threads. I probably will have to try the kingheadz knuckles soon or later.

Hey Pro, this just hit me, you could use a longer screw, insert it through the bottom of the knuckle and then through the steering rod and fasten it with a nut. That will save the cost of another 70 dollar knuckle set.
Thanks jusleanit, lots of chrome paint was used. Headed out for some pics with it on the truggy.
