Hi Guys, i am racing my STRR in a low traction and big track here in Indonesia, and do anyone of you have the best setting combination (diff oil, shock oil, camber, toe, etc) for STRR to run well in this kind of track? thanks a million for the advice...

I would run Cody Kings or Ryan Lutz's Revelations set up, Due the the forward placement of "everything" it makes the rear traction sketchy on slick tracks..Not sure what type of track it is but Hole Shots work pretty good, For side bite a good tire is Pro Lines Crime fighters, For forward traction my choice is Pro Line Bow Ties..But for starters I would try Cody Kings set up..it's pretty much spot on for me..

Hi Oasis, Thank You for the advice, i just tried the crime fighter and bow ties LPR tires last sunday, and it's really different...for now i use the Cody King's set up...

Are you guys running your ST-RR's stock or do you guys run any hop ups..just curious..I'm using a Tony's screw kit, king headz hubs..F & R, suspension blocks, front upper suspension mount, chassis brace, captured hinge pins, Avid ceramic bearings..other than that it's all stock..

Mines pretty much stack, kyosho cnc front hubs, bce chassis and avid bearings. Forgot about the hard servo saver spring, made a big diffrence in steering. Other than that, its all stock. I cant see spending extra cash on bling when a gallon of fuel runs 30 bucks and climbing. Plus the fact that the strr is just that well built it realy doesnt need any hop ups.
It is cool to see ones that are all done up. TB has one he tossed a ton of cash into, I mean everything was replaced with king headz or some after market parts.

I also have a BCE chassis for mine..but I like the stock chassis the most for the tracks that i run on. I do have a full set of King headz suspension blocks, I also have the king headz chassis braces but I like the stock ones more. I really do think that the ST-RR is the BEST Truggy..for me.. ..It really fits my driving style, I have owned just about every truggy in the past year or so and the Kyosho seems to fit me the best, I thought the Losi was really fast..but I had some problems with it..Diff cases cracking at the seams ( ) the plastic wears out really fast..after 5 or 6 races it was junk, a lot of slop in the front end, I had "had" problems with the throttle servos (I had one of the first ones)..disclaimer: To all the "haters"..I have NEVER had any servo problems before..I know how to set my end points..and I have not had any problems since getting rid of the 8ight, so this leads me to "think" that Losi had some type of design problem. I still thought the Losi was Fast but I'm faster with the Kyosho, I run Cody Kings set up for 99% of the tracks I run at. I do adjust a few things..mostly suspension stuff..droop, ride height, but the Diffs..I almost always run Cody's set up. The more I drive the ST-RR the more I like it..I have a Mugen Prospec and I do get a chuckle when I read about the "great" steering it has..****.. ..If you own a Prospec..Don't drive an ST-RR..You will then know what steering really is..The Mugen Pushes like a dump truck..lol..

Hi guys i have to post here a lot of time! i said 2-3pages back to this thread that i will get a inferno st-r with the st-rr conversation without engine and servos! finally i get it! The guy give the truggy wich is rebuild it with fresh oils ind diffs and shocks ,zero play at the diffs also he give me alot of other things such as a set of grp tires (hardcore used) i will use them from break in my engine, he gave me a set of kyosho new rims and new pro line bow ties , the old sort chassis with the sort universal shaft and with the sort rear torque rod. Also he gave me two bodies and two wings, 4 ring -pinion for the diffs(are just used), two set of shoes one stock (metal) and one plastic. The truggy is in good shape exept the chassis which has a lot of scratches and a medium hit under the center of the engine. the shocks looks good exept the springs. But he not gave me the cnc knuckle arms... Anyway my question is why the center spur is so low and is 1-2mm under the chassis hole....? At the hubs has a lot of play he said that the habs dont need shiming...

The reason the spur is hanging out the bottom of the chassis is that he must not have put the spacer under the center diff mount. There are 3 sizes of spacers to put under the center diff mount depending on if your running a 52, 50, or 48t spur gear. If you don't have the spacers in your stash of parts he gave you, then they are part #IS054.

As for the hubs having a lot of play? I'm assuming you mean the offset wheel hubs that the wheels attach to? If you mean those have a lot of play in and out then he must not have put the shims in them. They take a shim that comes in the part # BS53. You will need to order two packs of BS53 to get the amount of shims you need. I put 2 behind each wheel hub.

Enjoy your Truck! ;-)

Thanks! yes behind the offset hub he said me tha he play always with this play ine the hubs because the hubs must have play to free some force.. he said... anyway the bs53 has 4 shims from each dimension i find something better:
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4067
or http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/2965
or http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/26551
also for the diffs in the manual said that the shims are 13x16 but in the amain at the BS53 said that the BS53 package has 4 shims of 12x16 finally is 13x16 or 12x16 the shim for the diff?? i think is 13x16! the bs53 is not worth the money because has 4 shims of each dimensions and you need a lot of shims of only one dimension!
If i want to change chassis which is good? also which CNC knuckle arms are good for the st-rr?(not the kyosho CNC are pricey)

Its nice to have those other shims for the center diff for diffrent track sizes, however you can also change bell sizes and do about the same thing. As far as play or slop goes in the wheel hubs, I use the extrs shims from the diffs, just keep adding them until there is no play/slop, then take just one out. That allows for very little play .2mm of play.
As far as cnc knuckles, I went the kyosho route, 80 bucks or so. King heads would be another option and save a few bucks.

in the diffs what shims to put? 13x16?or 12x15! in the manual in the section which you build the diff write 13x 16 but in amain kyosho has not 13x16 only 12x15 .13X16 have hpi

Looks OK to me, is the rear body mount spaced forward so the CP2 (I think it's a CP2 body) for the standard ST-R still fits? Interesting idea. Could you post a side on photo so I can see how that looks. I'm about to fit the LWB chassis to mine also, and although I have a ST-RR body awaiting paint, I have a couple ST-R bodies with still quite a bit of life left in them, and would like to utilise them until ruined. Cheers

Yes it is a st-r body on a st-rr chassis you just adds some posts between the body posts and the shock tower(about 3mm) and then it is ok! it is the same with st-rr but it not covere the rear wing stay.... but you must notice that the st-r body will rub a little at the shock towers!!!
