Heres a pic I took at this weekend money race we went to over the weekend. As you can see, a buddy of mine is just a bit out of the groove just so he can toss a little extra dirt on me. Im working on video, hope to post some of the racing late in the week.

sandmtrailboss -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/10/2008 6:48:18 AM)

New to boards here. Bought a ST-R on ebay for $177 in amazing condition. Also bought 2 Airtronics 94358's ($36 & $40 from ebay, also got a free 94357 from a shipping mistake) for steering and brakes. I will slowly be building this one up, I have a Losi 8ight that I currently race @ Revelation in socal. Some upgrades will probably be one piece motor mounts, possibly an STS .28 & Pipe, a spektrum upgrade for my M8.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/11/2008 6:03:09 AM)

Welcome aboard sandmtrailboss. I got my str for 187 shipped alittle over a year ago. First upgrade was a longer chassis then big bore shocks. Just converted it into a strr at half the cost. Looks like your well on your way af doing the same thing.

Hello again :)

Please suggest me wheels for this tires :) I'm not sure about the wide.
I'm thinking about 1/2 offset, but may be not suitable for my Inferno ST. Any ideas?

mtbkym01 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/14/2008 8:55:26 AM)

I think 1/2 offset for the shorter wheelbase ST, would make it too wide, personally I would run zero or standard offset, something like these

Proline LPR

But, you could try these

JConcepts Rulux

if you have the inferno buggy hubs (narrow) on your truggy

Cheers

mtbkym01 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/14/2008 9:04:31 AM)

Actually, come to think of it, with the ST, you have either 14mm or 19mm hubs if you have not changed it (14mm hub, witha 19mm adapter over it). I dont know of any LPR sized wheels that will fit your truggy.

You would need to change over to 17mm hubs and driveshafts

Wish_Mastera -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/14/2008 11:41:01 AM)

Thank you very much. Factory is with 14mm and adaptor 19mm as you said. But I got 17mm hubs, so all I have to do now is to buy the black wheels :)

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/15/2008 3:07:37 AM)

Half off set rims I run the stock hubs, zero offset I put these hubs on http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/8112

The Winner -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/15/2008 3:40:20 PM)

with zero offset wheels i use the ifw327bl the 17mm hubs +11mm offset! with the +14mm offset in the hubs are way too much!

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/16/2008 4:03:52 AM)

Mine are 12mm offset when running zero offset, stock with half offset rims. You for sure dont want the half offset rims and the 12mm offset hubs. I done that once at a club race and it looked like my truggy took up the whole running lane. We were just goofing around.
Short clip of my son (12) running his sp2 at our local track.

Killer thread. Lot's of good info.

I just purchased a ST-R for 275.00 came with a mach 26 motor futaba S9351 S9350 servo's converted screw kit (to eliminate the philips) A killer OFNA starter box and tons of spare parts. Just missing a controller.

So here is my question after going to the local tracks and running my xxx-t I realized I simply had to get a 1/8 scale nitro truggy. The car has not been ran in a while so what steps should I do before I take this bad boy out?

What is a good priced controller I should run with this? Im not racing yet.....so I am looking for something affordable.

Ill get some pics up after work today.

Thanks for the info. I just placed an order for the dx3.0 at amainhobbies. Should have it for the weekend. The free second reciever was the deal sealer for me.

Just starting out in racing so no need for a 400 dollar radio, however is you can afford one, 3pk or the 4pk futaba. If cash holds you back for now, spektrum dx2 or dx3 are good. Just need one thats 2.4ghz system, that way you can run without the worry of radios conflicting with another radio.
Theres alot of good info on this thread for sure. Part numbers, things to improve the truggy (cnc knuckles) and loads of general stuff. If you run into any troubles just shout out, lots of guys/gals who can help out here.
Once you get your radio, I would turn the high needle screw 2 hour (1/6th) of a turn out then fire it up. You may need to lean it back out but this will keepp you from running it to lean to start with. If the truggy came from a buddy who runs in the same area as you, then the needles should be close enough without turning them at all. Only adjust the needles if the truggy came from another region.
Ive been very happy with my strr and cant see my self buying another brand any time soon. Keep us posted.

Thanks. Same region, so unless it was tuned bad in the first place I should be good to go. This is my first experience with a gas vehicle so Im sure I will do all kinds of bonehead things, but hey that's all part of the fun.

i have this tsais t32! and now tsais make the new T36!! anyway! in the last pic the engine has a little angle? you have mounts with angle? why you use 40 series tireS? try LPR from pro-line much lighter and better haldings!

Caretaker -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/18/2008 7:32:13 PM)

The engine isn't on it at an angle, i think it's because the picture was shot at an angle.

i use 40 series because i love the looks and it handles great. I run it in loose sand most of the time, paddles have too much grip roll IMO so that is why i use the mulchers.
When the sand is wet i use the stock size GRP tires i have.

the winter is come, i am at the final class at my school and i have a lot of study so i cant race with my st-r/st-rr so slow-slow i buy parts to ''refresh'' it and optional parts to make it better!

The Winner -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/24/2008 12:32:21 PM)

i want a good engine mount which mount guys suggest me? the k factory is good? also the k factory rear anti squat plate which is adjustable at 2and 3degree is good?

Pathous -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/26/2008 5:11:49 PM)

I need some suggestions to help me reduce or get rid of my on power push with my st-rr. I'm currently running 10, 10, 2 diff oil. What would be the best way to help me get off the corners better.

Thanks.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/27/2008 3:02:46 AM)

EFFECTS OF DIFFERENTIAL OIL REPLACEMENT
DIFF OIL
THICKNESS CHARACTERISTICS
Front
Thinner
• Increases steering into corners (off-power)
• If oil is too thin the steering may become inconsistent,
especially it can lose forward traction (and steering)
during acceleration out of corners
Thicker • Increases stability into corners during braking
• Increases steering on-power at corner exit
Center
Thinner
• Front wheels unload more during acceleration
• Decreases on-power steering (reduces oversteer)
• Easier to drive on rough tracks
• If a high-power engine is used you could waste too
much power and sometime “cook” the oil in the center
differential because it “overloads”
• More off-power steering
Thicker
• More all-wheel drive effect
• Better acceleration
• Increases on-power steering (reduces understeer)
• Better suited on high-bite, smooth tracks
• Car can be more nervous to drive especially if a high
power engine is used - you might need to be smooth on
the throttle
Rear
Thinner • Increases cornering traction
• Increases steering into corner
Thicker
• Decreases rear traction while cornering
• Reduces wheelspin

Should help out a bit.
