Great Info Nascardad, I appreciate your help with regard to the shocks and setup

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/28/2007 8:05:19 PM)

Heres a few pics before they get put up for the winter. The revo (blue) is my 11 year olds truck, the red buggy is my bros sp2, the yellow buggy is mine (sp2) and the yellow and white truggy is mine (strr). The buggies need the big bore shocks and they should be good for the 08 season. My sons revo is a all out racn monster truck.

I am looking at the 777st-r kit with the long chassis conversion for a-main hobbies for 599.99. I really want the new st-rr and this kit says it has everything to make it a st-rr except for the big bore shocks. Is this true and if so is is a good deal?

twomanytoys -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/29/2007 8:36:56 PM)

vnmsgt,

What not interested in the TTR st1 anymore?

vnmsgt -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/29/2007 9:00:28 PM)

Well I actually am looking to get kit to build but I thought of the thunder tiger because of the price but I already have 2 other RTR truggies. I saw the st-1 kit on a-main for I think 469 but the 3 hobby shops by my house do not carry anything for them. I really first wanted to get the new ST-RR but am not paying 750.00 for one. Did you get your st-1 yet? Also the st-1 rtr does not have a wing or mount which I really want, not a deciding difference but I do like wings.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/29/2007 9:01:33 PM)

The strr kit gets you the big bore shocks. If you go with the str extended chassis the big bore shocks will set you back 100 bucks 200 total front and rear. I also think the strr kit comes with the tdc diff vs the str and spider gears. Not sure on the body, the strr body is diffrent than the str body, I like the str better better.
Other than that, they are the same. A main has a forum, kendall would know whats the str extended kit has vs the strr kit. Im pretty sure thats what makes those two diffrent.

vnmsgt -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/29/2007 9:04:57 PM)

Here is the link to what I am looking at so you can see what it comes with.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (10/30/2007 2:31:34 AM)

That kit has the CNC Aluminum Front Steering Knuckles 80 plus bucks that the strr doesnt have, sweet. I would still go with the strr vs the str. The big bore shocks are worth it and the CNC Aluminum Front Steering Knuckles can be picked up for less than the cost of a set of big bore shocks.
They seem to be the same, just the strr has those big bores and the str has the cnc hubs.

chad25 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/1/2007 12:35:22 AM)

What are the diferences between the 777 and the strr?

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/2/2007 6:19:05 PM)

Big bore shocks, 25mm longer chassis, longer wing mount, longer body. If you were to put that on a 777 str then u would have the new strr without spenging $700 on one.

mtbkym01 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/12/2007 4:19:04 AM)

What difference do the different front C Hubs make. i.e. 20 degree v 22 degree. And which ones is everybody running?

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/12/2007 11:17:35 AM)

Im running 22, better turn in or tighter turn radius. The 20s would be more for a track that has wide turns. I have yet to use them.

mtbkym01 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/12/2007 11:20:25 PM)

Ok thanks, may try some experimentation

hkenvy91 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/13/2007 12:58:29 AM)

i have a st-rr coming tommorow from carolinarc .
its my first truggy and i wanted a nice one!im a little disapointed that it doesnt have the cnc hubs but i got a hook up on those from a fellow racer for 50 bucks new.

i cant wait to get my hands on those shocks!:) im not gonna build it yet. till i get a mill,another transponder,steering servo< already have a airtronics digital94758 for throttle and im sure 115oz will do the trick. thinking about an os max21vz-b vspec-t. whats a good pipe for this motor?

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/13/2007 11:00:04 AM)

Thats the same servo I have for throttle/brake. With my v-spec, Im running a werks 2013 pipe but the jp3 pipe doest the engine justice as well. OS makes a pipe/header combo for that engine that alot of people run. I got the werks of ebay new for 90 bucks, OS runs about 120 and the jp3 in the 60-70 dollar range.

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/13/2007 9:16:00 PM)

Hkenvy, For a few dollars more you could get the .28 O.S. makes.

hkenvy91 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/13/2007 11:11:00 PM)

yeah but i race and the 21 gets better fuel mileage.
are you racing offroad any with your st-r
im in richmond too

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/14/2007 3:57:11 AM)

I Have the hobby on hold at the moment and its still in kit form, been selling and have rc's for sale, but the st-r isnt going nowhere. When i get back to it i will get the st-r up and running and try out the bmx track they race on in fredricksburg(i think thats where its at). Where do you race at?

hkenvy91 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/14/2007 6:19:50 AM)

i usually run up at rcpro in gloucester va! great track with lotsa jumps! u should check it out sometime! pm me if you want info on that.
my st-rr got here today . i will probly start on it this weekend which means im gonna strip my eight down to clean it up and put away for the winter and take the mill/pipe/transponder off and put on the truck for right now! seasons not quite over yet

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/14/2007 6:18:41 PM)

when i get the truck running finally i will pm you on more info on that track becuase when i go there i want to run mines... spectating isnt much fun to me. post pics of the st-rr when you get it put together

metroman -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/17/2007 10:17:26 PM)

I'm looking into getting the st-rr and wanted to know where they have the best price for this kit. Just wanted to ask so I can use all my resources.

Thank You

metroman -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/17/2007 11:20:51 PM)

I was also wondering what parts needed to be replaced right off the bat.

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/17/2007 11:35:50 PM)

I have to say amainhobbies.com probably has the best prices on everything they sell, and plus they have frequent sales that last for months.[8D]

Tweedybird -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/18/2007 2:07:38 PM)

I just recently purchased the Kyosho st-r extended chasis kit with an RB 9.28tm, I have yet to put it together though as I'm waiting for everything else I need to finish the build in one shot. servos, batt etc.
I figured I'd check out the threads and school up on the truggy. but all I'm finding out is after spending 650 on a kit that doesn't come with motor or electrics, and a 550.00 modded motor, is that everyone seems to be upgrading all of the original parts anyway. In my opinion, you get what you pay for. So please fill me in as to what on the pro kit has to be upgraded and what doesn't.
I'm reading about the chasis mainly. but I'm sure there are other issues that I should address. Also with the power plant I've chosen I was told that I will be going through clutches like mad. an upgraded clutch that I won't have to change after every run will be great too.
