obviuosly you dont know what your looking at bro! those wheel nuts you think you are seeing are actually extended hubs ' the locknuts arent even on them right now!
and who uses universal dogbones !! they suck!!
i assure you its a real st-rr

I'm looking into getting the st-rr and wanted to know where they have the best price for this kit. Just wanted to ask so I can use all my resources.

Thank You

pot metal c-hubs gotta go right off the bat!!
thats the only minus about the kit
i have some kyosho cnc hubs to go on it!

Do you mean hubs, or knuckles? I would have thought the knuckles would be the only things to upgrade to CNC ones.

By the way, the build looks awesome, I love this thing. Oh yeah, one other thing, did the kit come with the extended hubs?

I just recently purchased the Kyosho st-r extended chasis kit with an RB 9.28tm, I have yet to put it together though as I'm waiting for everything else I need to finish the build in one shot. servos, batt etc.
I figured I'd check out the threads and school up on the truggy. but all I'm finding out is after spending 650 on a kit that doesn't come with motor or electrics, and a 550.00 modded motor, is that everyone seems to be upgrading all of the original parts anyway. In my opinion, you get what you pay for. So please fill me in as to what on the pro kit has to be upgraded and what doesn't.
I'm reading about the chasis mainly. but I'm sure there are other issues that I should address. Also with the power plant I've chosen I was told that I will be going through clutches like mad. an upgraded clutch that I won't have to change after every run will be great too.

Tweedy

the werks racing clutch is a 4 shoe type and you have 3 options as to what shoes you want to get depending on longetivity and grab. go on amainhobbies.com and look them up under engine accesories. Also look at the fioroni and RMV clutches.

Tweedybird -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/18/2007 5:43:45 PM)

yeah I went to a main hobbies online, and found alot of upgraded parts, what brands do you guys recommend? Racers Edge? or Kings Headz?
ok so werks 4 shoe, should I go with the carbon shoes?

Tweedy

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/18/2007 5:55:17 PM)

kingheadzbecause they are cheapers but still top quality. and yes the carbon shoes are a good starting point

ProRCRacer88 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/18/2007 6:04:14 PM)

Hkenvy, things are looking good so far on the build.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/18/2007 8:18:03 PM)

I think whats tossing old boy of on thinking its not a strr is the black color uv shafts to the hubs. On the str they are chrome and if you run a str with big bore shocks youll have to upgrade to those drive shaft. They arnt as think but twice as strong as the chrome ones.
Its looking good so far. Only things I would upgrade are the front carriers to the cnc ones and a set of king headz toe blocks (2-2.5-3 degrees). Mine isnt a true strr, I put the BCE chassis vs the kyosho one. Everything eles is stock.
I didnt like the werks clutch system and went back to the ofna 3 shoe set up but thats just drivers choice.
Post more pics once its done. Remember, take your time now, race it later.

hkenvy91 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/18/2007 10:16:27 PM)

the cnc knuckles are already in the werks!!
my local racer has an xtra set that he is sellin me for 50 bucks !
i pick them up next weekend

i have too the extensions hubs! i didnt tell you about the hubs! but for the nut that u have on the wheels! the blue one! the st-rr use a grey locknut and the knuckle arms in st-rr are cnc! but fot the bogbones go with universals!

mtbkym01 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/19/2007 5:08:01 AM)

The hubs do not have nuts on them at the moment. And the Universals are black.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/19/2007 10:58:03 AM)

The nut you think your seeing is the inner rim holder not the nut. The strr doesnt come with the cnc hubs. The str extended chassis kit does but not the strr kit.

steering knuckles not hubs! anyways , i got the big bores built last night! they feel pretty smooth! they took almost a whole bottle of shock oil! some local str guys i know told me to try 70 with the lime green springs. im tryin that but will prolly go with the blue springs

i say that i have too these hubs! and i know what is this! but i say for the nut on the last foto with the wheels on! it has a blue nut at the wheels!

mtbkym01 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/19/2007 5:17:40 PM)

Ok, but if you look a bit closer to that photo, you will see that it is only the hub showing through the wheel. hkenvy has not put the nuts on, just the wheels resting on the hubs. Anyway, let not all argue and let hkenvy complete his build, and enjoy it with him.

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/19/2007 8:52:11 PM)

last pic is just the threads, no nut. Hell, my strr has 4 diffrent colors for wheel nuts, blue-black-chrome and gold. The nut doesnt make a truck. By chance, is there a pearl vision center close?

The Winner -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/19/2007 9:59:52 PM)

sorry guys maybe i do a mistake but i love the st-rr! and the st-r too!

nascardad24 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/20/2007 2:07:16 AM)

Its all good, not lets get back to the build. Hows it going? On your front shock tower, the body post that stick up, cut those suckers just above were the body clip goes. That way, if you flip it wont snap the body post off the tower. Move the top tie rod all the way out, front ones. I'll have to dig my truck out and see were the back one is, but I think its middle. 22 degree steering caster blocks. Check out kyosho web site for the ryan lutz set up from the truggy nats. Great set up.

gtsum -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/20/2007 3:18:36 AM)

Jason, or anyone else..what is the width of the strr at the end of the hubs (or at the outside of the tires)??

hkenvy91 -> RE: - Official Kyosho MP777 ST-R Thread - (11/20/2007 12:33:01 PM)

almost 15 inches from hub tip to hub tip!! she's a wide girl! hey shaun, trey saw it last night for the first time since building it! he said wow ,it looks really big! lol he wants one now!!hey you wanna go to motorama in feb

Gotcha..I was wondering the difference between that and my xray...about the same..the st-rr's just look a lot wider for some reason. Yeah, I was thinking of going up for the Motorama thing as well. Dave and Rocky were thinking about it...you and trey gonna go? I think it would be a good time (aside from the issues they had last year..surely it will run more smoothly this year). But yeah, I would be up for that. Also, friday is out for me now...I am going to race at Pro on Sunday, if they have a race..if not, I can get over there Saturday if you wanna do some testing and tuning...let me know!

Shaun
