The 61 and 75 appear to be common. I havn't seen both field at the same time side by side.

The 91XL, 1.08 as well as the 120 appear to be in the same size case. I have a 108 and I know it is common with the 91XL.

I have a new 61 xls and a friend has two 75s they take the same mounting holes and appear the same on the outside except the carbs are different. The 61 seems to put out about the same power. Work over the baffle in the muffler it helps bunches.

I just got one of these engines off of e-bay. I also am looking for information on them.

How do you like this engine now that you have had it for awhile? I plan on putting mine on a four star 60 and would like to know if the Magnum 75A XL would be a good fit? I have had 2 Magnum engines in the past (40 GP & 45 XL). Both engine ran real good and had plenty of power for thier size. Thats why I bought the Magnum 75A XL.

Thanks

The Magnum 40 GP's were made by Thunder Tiger whereas the newer ones are made by ASP.

I just bought one today at a swap meet. Is that the only prop size in the book for this engine, the 13X6/8?

I also plan to put it in a Four Star 60. I was looking at the RNV for a .91 to put on this engine. Anyone try this and if so did it work out ok? The bolt holes seem to line up, just not sure if I can find that bolt that blocks the needle valve hole in the front if I move the needle valve to the rear.

Salty

I have just finished my last project (GP Pete-N-Poke) I am plan on starting my 4*60 in Mid August. I have vacation coming this week and honey dues I have to take care of before I leave on Vacation. My Magnum 75 is a new engine and I also would like to do a rear needle valve for it. I found the Hobby People carry a full line of parts for Magnum engines and I found a rear needle valve kit for it.

Go to www.hobbypeople.net

Thanks

I found the spec's for the 75XL at Global Hobby's web page. You can go to http://www.globalhobby.com/magnum/magxl.htm for a look see. It looks like the 75XL is a bigger bored 61XL so the Carb kit for the 61XL should work. You can call Hobby People at 800-854-8471 to make sure. I hope this helps in your quest to convert it to a rear needle valve.

Thanks

My ASP/Magnum .75 is a little shy on power compared to my Super Tigre .75 or even the MDS .68 on the same 13x6 prop. Mine has the remote needle valve option, which I don't really like, as it may be responsible for a mid-range transition hesitation.

When dialed in properly, it's a reliable sport motor.

Jim and Volfy,

Thanks for the info. I have a G60 on my 4*60 now and don't like it very much. I'm hoping this will do much better for me.

I did a search on Hobby People for that engine and found some parts, I swear I did it the other day and got nothing. Anyway, I didn't see anything on a rear needle conversion kit. I did the search for, "XL 75A." Let me know if you found it using something else.

Thanks again.

OK, here is what I found out for the .75XL rear needle valve conversion.

The .75 is a bored out .61 and the carb is the same. So if you want a rnv you can use the .61 setup. These are the Global part numbers but you can find them on the Hobby People site:

61873F - Rear Needle Valve Bracket
61874F - Rear Needle Valve Assembly (has needle valve included)
61803F - .61carb assem (has carb and RNV bracket w/ needle valve)

The thing is you need the carb plug to use the RNV setup which I could only find on the .46 manual but it does fit all of the RNV systems; that number is S32868F. I went down to the local HP and did the research and found out how to make it work.

I went with 61873F and S32868F; I already had a needle valve so only needed the bracket and plug; total cost less then $10.

Hope this helps.

What prop are you using on yours? I got a manual for it and can't believe it only calls for two props. Is this common with larger engines?
