If you can learn Corel Draw please let me know. I got it and a set of instruction disks for exactly the same reason but it is FAR too complicated for me apparently. I need the dummies version.

LOL...It's kinda kicking my behind also but I've taught myself the basics in Photoshop and of course live behind a puter all day using Autocad and Revit etc. I'm managing ok with the Corel thing but the tools I've seen them use in vinyl shops aren't available on the copy I got. Must be missing a few plugins or something, I'm still working on getting all those hickups sorted out.

Getting near done, just the stab & engine & radio gear. I decided to use a FM 8channel rcv I had lying around, from a X100 I once had. I dont want to spend anymore on this since I'm also going gas/50cc at the same time. The stab slot was grossly mis-cut, left side 1/8" higher than right, I thought laser cutting was precise??!! I made sure the fin was aligned to the fuse with a right angle ruler, after the glue set, I sighted the fin from the front of the plane, noticed the fin is slightly slanted, the fuse has some twist as well as right warp. Oh well, not much I can do about it now, I found the hatch, thought it was missing. Not thrilled with this ARF, between the China coat, twist, warp, they could do better IMO, they are not the cheapest ones out there either. I hope it flys well and stays together for a while.

Wow, you must have gotten one built on a Friday afternoon! Mine didn't have near the issues you're having. I'm faily impressed with mine.

1/8" off? Yikes?!? That's more than 3mm meaning the stab would be around 6` off? Is the wings close to 90` to the fuselage? Either way as long as you can keep the stab parralel to the wing looking from behind/front the plane will still fly really good. I've got a bunch of models with the vertical fin not 90` to the stabilizer but yeah I kept the stab perfectly parralel to the wing and it doesn't bother the flying except for the fact that looks a little cruddy. Sure it's not ideal by any means but what can you do. You could also possible try to remove the vertical and jippo it a little but it would bend the rudder hinge line I'm afraid, also not ideal at all but a little won't hurt that much. Please also ensure you fasten the main wings properly when checking these things, on the profiles you can't just slide the wings on and start eyeballing. They rely on being properly fastened to align themselves to the fuselage, even if properly fastened there will still be a teensy bit of play in the alignment of the fus to the wings but such is life.

I have the wings snug with the supplied screw, that seems to be OK, the stab is very loose now that I had to carve the excess off, but it will be aligned to the wings OK, I might shim one side to maintain alignment & a tight fit while the glue is setting. I ended up bending the elev. joiner wire a little, one side was way higher than the other, probably because my hole drilling was off, standard stuff to deal with, no biggy. I think it will fly OK, the fin is only off by 2-3 degrees. I think the covering will be completely off before the maiden, this stuff is C R A P!!!

I got my new OS 1.20AX and it's too wide to fit on the engine rails! What's the consensus? Can I use my rotary tool to widen the opening and the mount rails as necessary, or would it severely weaken the front end? This is really frustrating

Don't do it. The fuse isn't that strong to start with and you may create a CG problem. I would get smaller engine that fits better and you don't need all that power to have fun.

From reading other posts about this bird and this engine, I thought it was a perfect fit.

The 120 ax IS a perfect engine and a great fit. The 120 AX is virtually the same size and weight as the 91 FX. When I replaced my 91 FX with the new 120 AX on my 65" Yak it was a bolt on replacement with no mods, not even a CG change. If the rails are too tight then slowly cut or sand some off both rails evenly and test fit the engine. The width was specified for the 91 FX so you should be REAL close to begin with.

Go ahead and dremel it. It will be fine. I have a 120 ax on mine. No problems with the cg either.

Stuff like that is pretty routine with kits & ARFs alike. If all you need to do is grind away 1/8" or so on each rail, do it with the Dremel sanding drums. It shouldnt compromise the strength, unless you had to go half way through the rail which I doubt. I'm just waiting for a throttle servo & batts to finish mine. I used CF rods w/titanium ends for the first time, pretty light but I couldnt use them on the ailerons, too short a linkage, had to go with the old standard 4/40 all thread & CF rod. The OS 1.20AX & this plane should be a winning combo, I can hover a 9lb. Velox with same, a 7.7lb Fusion would be just about perfect! The covering aside, this plane has good "presentation" even if it s a profile, its pretty big, huge amount of side area.

You do have to cut away some of the covered parts and shave the rails to get OS 1.20 AX in. I'll tack glue the engine down first & check balance to locate the mounting holes, will have to block it up to do this since the flanges are wider than the opening. This will keep the carving to a minimum. I had to rotate the muffler port 90 deg, it was very close to the fuse.

I finally got the engine mounted and it balances almost perfectly. It's about 1/8" from the firewall and about the same amount from the spinner backplate.
