If you can learn Corel Draw please let me know. I got it and a set of instruction disks for exactly the same reason but it is FAR too complicated for me apparently. I need the dummies version.

LOL...It's kinda kicking my behind also but I've taught myself the basics in Photoshop and of course live behind a puter all day using Autocad and Revit etc. I'm managing ok with the Corel thing but the tools I've seen them use in vinyl shops aren't available on the copy I got. Must be missing a few plugins or something, I'm still working on getting all those hickups sorted out.

Getting near done, just the stab & engine & radio gear. I decided to use a FM 8channel rcv I had lying around, from a X100 I once had. I dont want to spend anymore on this since I'm also going gas/50cc at the same time. The stab slot was grossly mis-cut, left side 1/8" higher than right, I thought laser cutting was precise??!! I made sure the fin was aligned to the fuse with a right angle ruler, after the glue set, I sighted the fin from the front of the plane, noticed the fin is slightly slanted, the fuse has some twist as well as right warp. Oh well, not much I can do about it now, I found the hatch, thought it was missing. Not thrilled with this ARF, between the China coat, twist, warp, they could do better IMO, they are not the cheapest ones out there either. I hope it flys well and stays together for a while.

Wow, you must have gotten one built on a Friday afternoon! Mine didn't have near the issues you're having. I'm faily impressed with mine.

1/8" off? Yikes?!? That's more than 3mm meaning the stab would be around 6` off? Is the wings close to 90` to the fuselage? Either way as long as you can keep the stab parralel to the wing looking from behind/front the plane will still fly really good. I've got a bunch of models with the vertical fin not 90` to the stabilizer but yeah I kept the stab perfectly parralel to the wing and it doesn't bother the flying except for the fact that looks a little cruddy. Sure it's not ideal by any means but what can you do. You could also possible try to remove the vertical and jippo it a little but it would bend the rudder hinge line I'm afraid, also not ideal at all but a little won't hurt that much. Please also ensure you fasten the main wings properly when checking these things, on the profiles you can't just slide the wings on and start eyeballing. They rely on being properly fastened to align themselves to the fuselage, even if properly fastened there will still be a teensy bit of play in the alignment of the fus to the wings but such is life.

I have the wings snug with the supplied screw, that seems to be OK, the stab is very loose now that I had to carve the excess off, but it will be aligned to the wings OK, I might shim one side to maintain alignment & a tight fit while the glue is setting. I ended up bending the elev. joiner wire a little, one side was way higher than the other, probably because my hole drilling was off, standard stuff to deal with, no biggy. I think it will fly OK, the fin is only off by 2-3 degrees. I think the covering will be completely off before the maiden, this stuff is C R A P!!!

I got my new OS 1.20AX and it's too wide to fit on the engine rails! What's the consensus? Can I use my rotary tool to widen the opening and the mount rails as necessary, or would it severely weaken the front end? This is really frustrating

Don't do it. The fuse isn't that strong to start with and you may create a CG problem. I would get smaller engine that fits better and you don't need all that power to have fun.

From reading other posts about this bird and this engine, I thought it was a perfect fit.

The 120 ax IS a perfect engine and a great fit. The 120 AX is virtually the same size and weight as the 91 FX. When I replaced my 91 FX with the new 120 AX on my 65" Yak it was a bolt on replacement with no mods, not even a CG change. If the rails are too tight then slowly cut or sand some off both rails evenly and test fit the engine. The width was specified for the 91 FX so you should be REAL close to begin with.

Go ahead and dremel it. It will be fine. I have a 120 ax on mine. No problems with the cg either.

Stuff like that is pretty routine with kits & ARFs alike. If all you need to do is grind away 1/8" or so on each rail, do it with the Dremel sanding drums. It shouldnt compromise the strength, unless you had to go half way through the rail which I doubt. I'm just waiting for a throttle servo & batts to finish mine. I used CF rods w/titanium ends for the first time, pretty light but I couldnt use them on the ailerons, too short a linkage, had to go with the old standard 4/40 all thread & CF rod. The OS 1.20AX & this plane should be a winning combo, I can hover a 9lb. Velox with same, a 7.7lb Fusion would be just about perfect! The covering aside, this plane has good "presentation" even if it s a profile, its pretty big, huge amount of side area.

You do have to cut away some of the covered parts and shave the rails to get OS 1.20 AX in. I'll tack glue the engine down first & check balance to locate the mounting holes, will have to block it up to do this since the flanges are wider than the opening. This will keep the carving to a minimum. I had to rotate the muffler port 90 deg, it was very close to the fuse.

I finally got the engine mounted and it balances almost perfectly. It's about 1/8" from the firewall and about the same amount from the spinner backplate.

Hey guys!

Thanks for keeping the thread going. Glad to see everyone's kicking strong on the Fusion front too. I was convinced last Friday by a good friend that me and the girlfriend should join the group for a slope soaring weekend about 300km's from here. Problem however is this trip happens in little over two weeks and I haven't gone slope soaring in over a year now, so guess what? I'm running like a mad man to try and get 6 of my own and 2 of my girlfriend's planes rigged and serviced. All my slope birds has got some sort of illness like a stripped gear in a servo or a loose hinge or something. Some of them are just in general crashed and needs serious fiberglassing work to the fuselage or something. So I'm quickly trying to get on this one and get a fleet together for the trip.

Last week I swopped the servos on my B-heli so now I have all the servos I need to finish my Fusion, all the decals are cut and yes I got the landing gear back from the painter. All I really still need is a AR7000 spektrum reciever now so I can hook my Fusion up to my new DX9 I got last Friday.

Sunday morning the girlfriend told me we're not going on the trip unless I get my x-mas present from the previous x-mas built (Yes there's valid reasons why it was still in the box, but that's another story) so since Sunday morning I've been building this beast, an EPP Slope/Dynamic soaring wing called the Bat from Windrider. Oh the joys of building new toys!

Oh not sure if I've let the cat out the bag yet but I've copied another color scheme. I can't say too much otherwise it'll be too easy, folks here know me too well. Admittingly I'm extremely curious myself to see how the plane looks with all the decals on and everything, might need to do a quick mock-up tonight so I can get some pictures uploaded here...been keeping myself in suspense long enough also I suppose. Really itching to see what the completed plane bolted together looks like.

Does the .90 ARF have ply doublers up front or is it just balsa?

Righto here she is. The story goes as such:

I was having a horrible time designing my own colour scheme on this one as I wanted something elegant to go with the patten side of the bird but at the same time aggressive so it would also fit in with the 3D side of things. But I was having no luck with anything I sketched up in photochop. As luck would have it fortunately the F3A world champs happened soon after I started sketching and of course I watched the action via the RCU thread on the competition. Me and the girlfriend were both reading up one morning on the latest happenings when we both saw the plane, immediatly just said to her that's what we're going to cover the Fusion like. As luck would have it this was in fact the Euphoria bipe of my absolute all time hero Mr. Somenzini himself. Well it was decided and even though I had serious doubts about my capabilities to get the job done I bit the bullet and forked out the ridiculous amount of money for the many rolls of covering we needed. I had to do it all by hand which made it even more impossible cause yes I was on holiday so no access to Autocad and the plotter to get some templates punched out, regardless though for my "3 meters away" standard I set for the plane it made the cut. Learned the hard way doing trim with Ultracote is a tedious task also but ok we did it.

My tribute to Quique it is. Very fitting too as he took the title of World Champ this time around with the Euphoria. Of course all credit goes to him for the beautifull scheme in my eyes. On the manufacturer of the Euphoria's site it says his wife is to thank for the scheme, if so a big thank you to her too. Hope they don't mind me borrowing it.

Hehee don't let my girlfriend read that, you'll end up sleeping with one eye open.

Thanks for everyone's comments, I'm real chuffed with this one. Gonna be hard getting her DOD on the maiden like I did with all my other profiles. Really need to get her done now, having sleepless nights over the AUW and CG.
