Hi

First off i need help keeping the pipe on th engine tis a jett 50 fire and the silicon just slids around i ahve the 2 zip ties on and some steel saftywire and its still movving around, any advice?

Next i have 15 minuts iwth a 10x6 prop at about 16 000 rpm c an i go to a 8.8x8.75? what rpm am i looking for and how much do i back off of peak 1000?

IF the pipe is moving around, you do not have the pipe mounted properly. You can not rely on the coupler joint to keep the assembly together. The main body of the pipe has to be solidly mounted.

If the engine is still new, the 10x6 was a bit big for break-in. You want the engine running up over 17,500 on the test stand, while just slightly rich. (or if the engine is new, and Dub provided other instructions for the configuration, follow those ). If it is on a test stand, put that 8.8x8.75 on it and let it turn up.

RPM the engine operates at depends almost entirely on the tuning length. Prop selection must be made to match the pipe. Did you set up the pipe, or was it one Dub provided?

Usually the 8.8x8.75 should hit 18,000 rpm or higher without an issue. The shrike shown here has a FIRE-50 "LX" configuration, and turns that prop over 19K rpm.

I will work on getting the pipe mounted better,

the pipe was tuned by dub for speed that is all the information i have on it.

of the three props i ahve in that range (8.8x8.5) (8.8x8.75) (8.8x9) what would you put on it?

smallest prop first...... then work your way up

ok i will be doing that, one more thing i need to get a good beam still engine mount i noticed that you sell machiend mounts which one would you recomend? remeber this is a fire so i need to get it away from the fire wall a little (the plane is a viper 500)

Dub has the aluminum mounts for all of the engines. Jsut tell him what engine it is for. That should give you enough room.

Alternately...... good ole Dave Brown engine mount will work just as well... should clear the pipe, and help the header clear the firewall.
