My Ultra Stick .40 is almost ready to fly. I did put a nice Enya 60 on the nose (2 stroke). It weighs around 15 to 20 ozs. Should I use a 4.6 1100 mah rcvr battery? Or maybe a 6.0 rcvr battery? I have heavy duty BB hitec servos in the wing. I'm hoping the battery (mounted near the tail) will take care of most of my weight issues. Should I go bigger on the battery (1400 mah)? What did you guys do that mounted big fat motors on the front?

I fly mine with a irvine 53 and a 600 ma 4.8v pack and it flies great lasts at least 3 flights, i had one so i used it, a 1100ma 4.8 is what i would have used there is very little weight difference on the aa packs, if you think you might need more tail weight you could get the 1300 ma sub c pack and mount it more rearward, they weigh about 2 oz more I had no cg issues, my irvine weighs a little over 17 oz and the battery pack is in the rear wing area of the fuselage

What I needed to hear. I'll probably go out today and get that bigger battery. I'm getting antsy to see her in the crow mode!

I have a saito .72 on mine.i put the servos for the elev. and the rudder on the tail infront of the vertical fin.Put a pull-pull on the rudder and used a lead shot weight to balance it.I it mounted on the tail wheel and mounted a square 600 mah 4.8v battery where the elev and rud servos were. balanced out pretty nice. And i used 3/8 sq. bass wood to mount servos on the tail, used epoxy to glue them in.

I'm ussing 3003 futaba servos and the 4.8 v, 600 mah batterry. No problems with the it.

Did you mount them "in" the tail or "on" the tail? Are you running all 7 servos? If so the 600 mah battery is enough for more that few flights?

Yes i am, running 7 servos, the rudder servo is ontop of the fuse. about 3 inches infront of thr verticle stab and the elev servo is just behind the rudder servo on the right side of fuse.
I usssually do 2 or 3 flights then use my quick charger to recharge it.I ussually charge when my tx batt. goes down to 9.5 volts.I have a 12oz fuel tank. You'll have to do the math.

Got it. This may be off this thread but my crow switch is occupying my D/R switch for the elevator. Did you guys figure out a work around or do you just not use the D/R on the ele? I set the throw in between the hi and lo suggested measurment and put an expo of -35 on it (Futaba UHFS).

I have the same problem with the loss of tht elevator D/R switch... There is a thread in the radio forum that receommends changing the D/R switch to another switch or ganging it up with the aileron D/R switch. I haven't yet tried this. So far I have just been dialing down the ATV to get the elevator where I want it. The controls on the US are surprisingly effective so a lot of throw is not required. The rudder is very strong -- I have a free castering tailwheel on mine and have no trouble taxing around on just rudder.

Cheers!

Galen

same with my futaba 8u, low rate elevator is 100% with about -30% expo to soften the middle and hi rate is crow mode on mine, have fun. you will have a rocket ship with a 60 on there, mine hovers easily and flies fast with the irvine 53 and a graupner wide blade 12-5
