Only flown in one round of one contest, but i did learn one very important strategy. Bring a second plane! Doh!

I have been watching a few meets before i tried it and
I did notice some patterns.

There appeare to be three types of flyers (in arizona anyhow)

1) Those who get in real tight into a furball circling around real tight for a cut.

2) Others hang back just a bit to avoid midair's by taking a larger path mostly outside or behind the furball, they just swoop thru as oportunities appear.

3) Those who get on someone's tail and stick with it till they get a cut.

For me i don't really like buiding planes all that much to keep up with the meets, and i don't have the skill level to really chase one down for more than a few seconds, so i am a hang back a bit kinda guy.

For the past few meets here the number 1 scores come from type 2 and type 3 fliers

i also noticed a few things about the planes. Keep it cheap. Plastic and or foam is the only way to go, because they will be cheap and easy to repair. fast is not a big help. A couple of times i spotted fast planes losing streamers simply cause it was going too fast, fast ones also don't seem to get more cuts. Put some adhesive on the leading edge of your wing to grip streamers so they don't just slide off. use a reliable engine and good glow, lots of points are gained simply by launching on time and not flaming out.

Thats about all i know at this point but i have a feeling that is just about al there really is to know, the rest comes down to Luck and skill. Tons of both.

happy hunting!

In the fur ball:
It is kind of like playing pool. You know, play for the next shot. As I am going for one streamer, I am looking at the next one. So I can make my turn promptly.

Chasing:
Read up on WWII evasion tactics. As I will be on your tail sooner or later. HEHE
