Ive flown planes before in the 40 to 80mph range so speed and control is not going to be any problems for me.
What are some nice full bodied planes like the GP P-51

Motor range of .15-.40

What are the best kind of streamers

Like he said, unless you're starting your own group flying combat with your own rules and have no interest in mixing in guys from other clubs, you might want to see what is flown in your area, and what the popular aircraft in that class are. It's more fun when there are more people involved.

Well, then it's pretty much up to you. If you want scale-type planes, the JK Aerotech kits are pretty darn good for an introduction to scale combat.

Don't forget to buy a Zagi or Boomerang slope ship and take advantage of your location. Lake Wilson reservoir will give you full contact combat all day.

That's some good advice.

For that matter, electric Zagi combat is a lot of fun and generally inexpensive.

Built up balsa planes don't last to long in combat. (ie: one midair and you have a bunch of kindling)

www.jkaerotech.com Try one or two of these planes, copy the construction methods if you want to do different planes and have the tools/ability to do it OR just buy a whole bunch more from JKAerotech. These are tough little scallies that are fun to fly even when you're NOT flying combat. Course they're better with streamer on it.

I agree with Clean, the jkaerotech planes are a really good starting point. The P-47N is an espeically good flyer, and has the lightest wingloading.

I'm suprised nobody ever mentioned a SPAD sloper for combat.

http://spadslopers.desertsites.net/Flik/index.html

I have been thinking about building one of these for a long while.

Build Two of them. One for light winds one for heavy. With standard everything it's good for heavier conditions. With light gear they'll fly in fairly light stuff. I had mine to Wilson a couple years ago, I had blown off flying much in the good wind on Thursday as I had things to do for registration. Went out Friday morning and there was a little breeze so I figured why not give it a shot. Just past the road I gave it a toss to see if it was trimmed anywhere near close and the darn thing just about made it to the slope, hundred yards from where I parked. Got out to the slope, gave it a toss and made a couple passes and the wind went bye bye. It was another Hand Launch Friday that was so irritating for 3 MWSC years in a row. Been pretty good the last two if I remember right, I missed both Fridays and have to go by reports.

For the combat that we run at MWSC you can't use these as they have solid plastic leading edges. We are supposed to use foam for the first 1.5 inches here. Having been hit by quite a few combat ships I gott agree with that, I nice, serrated coro edge could draw some blood. But used in a respectfull manner among friends I'd say be careful and have a good time.
