It has arrived and I have decided to do a build thread, the covers supplied for the whole aircraft was a pleasent supprise, quality looks good, especially for the price I got it at, which was 499EU with free postage, not tax added at source and I did not get a tax bill when it was delivered, please don't snitch on me.

First order of buisness was to ensure the engine I wanted to use fitted, I am using an MVVS 45 Mag with Isolation mounts, the front of the attached half cowl has to opened up to allow fitting of the engine, this was done with a hole cutter after cutting out a support for the drill arbour.

More later.

Further photo's to show the installation of the Iso mount, one pic shows the engine on the mount in position and the small silver location pegs in position, the other shows the supplied engine spacers that jus happen to fit the hole for the rubber isolaion mount in postion to mark the centre of the hole needed.

Very nice! Are you going to baffle the engine? Looks like it's in a hard place to keep cool.

Nice airframe! I wish I had the 100cc version!

Your right, the cowl completly covers the engine, the only thing sticking out will be the spark plug, which is going to look very good, I plan on using a cannister as well so keeping everything enclosed inside the cowl, baffling will be from the two side outlets at the front to the cylinder head, I have not given this a great amount of thought as yet, but have done it before with success. I will probably put NACA scoops on the bottom of the fus to suck hot air out.

Just weighed everything as below.

Fus..............1355grm
Rt Wing..........551
Lft Wing.........547
Lft Stab.........155
Rt Stab..........165
Rudd...............88
Stab tube........42
Wing tube......169
U/C pair.........265

Fus weight includes the canopy frame and cowl

Total weight 3337grms divide by 28 and 16 = 7.45lb, lots of potential to save weight on the Undercarridge, wing and stab tube as they are very substantial aluiminimum.

Should come out at under 7Kg's hopefully 6.5Kg, this will be interesting.

Ive just finished building my Edge, Ive Put a DA50 in mine with a 3W slimline can, jr 8411's on elevators and ailerons and a 8511 on rudder, is come out at around 14lbs.

Was your firewall already installed? mine wasnt as the kit is designed around an electric setup and the metal disk you have installed on the front of yours was supposed to be the electric motor mount?

Ile get some pics of mine together.

Jason

The firewall was already installed, with down and side thrust aligned, Metal disc? don't understand sorry.
Mine will have Hitec 5955's all around, and I am istalling an MTW 75 cannister. I understand there is a longevity problem with the JR servo gears have you had any problems yet?

At 14lb yours if going to be a rocket ship that's for sure.

Bit more done today, engine installtion is nearing completion, the only problem is the manifold needed to get the cannister into the centre of the fus, also the drop needs to be 1/2" and all I have are 1" 2" and a no drop, I have asked Pe Rievers if he can make one up for me with a tighter bend to clear the cowl fixing as well, will report back when I have done more.

Elevator servo's in, by using socket head servo screws it was a simple job as they fit on the allen key very tightly, can't say that the wing will be as simple as its much further inside, and will require an allen key fitted into a dowel or some such to extend it. I had to extend the servo arm opening to allow the arm to rotate into position as I had fitted them first, this seemed the logical thing to do.

Cant comment on the jr servo gears yet as they havnt been tested to any extent.

There are some slight differences between the X Treme composite version of this plane and the one they supply to Graupner, which is the one ive got. The undercarriage supplied with mine is a swept back glass/carbon job, the firewall wasnt installed. Graupner supply an upgraded hardware pack with theirs which is nice.

Aeileron servo installation is a pain!

heres some pics....

Contary to my post above, I have just taken the UC out of the packing and its a laminate of Glass/Ply and Carbon sprayed in aluiminium metal flake paint, will have to see how this stands up. bit its very well made and flexable enough to take the grass strip I fly from, I hope LOL, no flying at the moment due to the Foot and Mouth outbreak in Southern England our Sheep field is closed for the time being.

WARNING

There is a former missing from the plane and kit contents, this former fits at the rear of the canopy and stiffens the fus between the the rear wing fixing and the spar tube, it would be well to check and fit one if yours is missing. This has been verified by my supplier.

Deceided I did not like the so called Phenolic horns supplied, can't work out what they are made of as Phenolic is the process of extrusion not the material, so I have made my own horns out of rea
