I ordered one from www.carboncopyuk.com and one from Throttlestore.
This one fitted is a modified CCU018 from Carbon Copy.

It is slightly more swept forward and raises the fuz about 1 inch above the stock set. seems much stronger...time will tell.

Did you cut the bottom of the fus out to get the Carboncopy UC attached in one piece? or did you cut it in half to get it in? was it the right width as well? so many question on a simple UC, I have to admit Carboncopy are good, I have used their UC in most of my aircraft eventually. LOL.

I had to first shave about 5mm off at the base where its mounted and fair it in. I then cut it in half. Finally, I made the ends rounded to fit the spats as before with the stock set.
All of this took about an hour with my dremel and a very good mask.

Glad it went so well, so the replacement was the correct width as well, that is good.

What is the overal weight of your version?

Have you tried the throttle curve on your Tx yet? may get the prop hang/hovering throttle setting somewhere in the middle.

All up weight is 7.2kg.

I haven't played with the throttle curve yet...I'd like to remove the very slow start up from the ESC without it screaching.

That's about the same weight as my MVVS 45 powered vesion, even with 3/4Lb lead in the nose, I am gradually reducing this, but have not weighed it since I took some out.

Just a thought by putting a throttel curve on the Tx it may start up slower without the ESC programming and get rid of the screaching, you never know.

I flew three more flights today of 10 minutes each....the average was 3500mah per flight.
The undercarriage stood up well.
I love the sound this plane makes when you fly a wall. The harriers inverted are excellent..when flown upright it can snap at a very slow speed. Knife edge is so pattern like. I'm enjoying this plane more every time I fly it.

Steve Hummal of WestonUK advised me to put 5mm of up aileron on both sides when doing an upright harrier, and it works well, also helps in the prop hang and on landing at low throttle it increases the sink rate, whilst adding wash out to the wing, therefore decreasing the stall and snap speed, give it a go its a revelation.

Thank Mike, I'll give it a try.

I've found the 22inch prop excellent for slowing it down for a landing.

I don't know what Tx you fly, but I put the reflex for the ailerons on the side slider of my Zap, so I have 10mm up on full slide up and 5mm on half slide up so I can vary the amount of reflew during landing, I also mixed it to the throttle from a switch on a landing position so that if I get it wrong and have to go around, when I open the throttle it takes the reflex off, lots of switches and mixes to play with on the Zap, all adds to the fun.

Have the virtual cockpit installed, had to do a few mods, because I have a cannister silencer the tank is in the high position, therefore the front dash is moved back to miss the tank, looks Ok though, well I think so.

Mike,

My kit is missing the set screw that keeps the cowl in place. Can you tell me the size of the screw? Also, how did you connect your horizontal stabs to the aluminum tube? BVMs instructions omit that step, and there's no hardware available either.

Thanks.

The nylon bolt that is in the fus and goes into the keyhole on the cowl is 4mm, the same size as the SebArt wing retaining bolts for the Angal and 30size Katana, if you are talking about the front bolt then that is 3mm.

If you need instructions for that step go to the Graupner web site and look for the downloadable instructions for their electric version, they recommend epoxying the tail tube into one side, I don't like this because if you bend it you need a new elevator half as well, so I attached both sides with a bolt and T nut epoxied inside the tube, the hole for the bolt is 110mm out from the root edge of the tailplane, there is a plywood reinforcing plate there, the surface of the tailplane can be recessed to take the bolt head, taped over for flight.

If you are missing so much from BVM I would suggest you send it back, also check to see if the rear fus former is in place as detailed earlier in this thread.
