The advantages of a 500 are pulling out auto's, stable hover, wind resistance, sharper and faster roll rates, stability of a 30-50 gasser and not much more money for batts and electric, easier to work on, easier to diagnose problems that arise. I use 4s and 5s batteries on the big rigs for the simple fact you noted, I dont want to use 2 of my 3s1p packs cuz I'd rather have them charged and ready for use on my Rex and belt cp etc.

I could start writing a 450 list but that's just too many to keep track of. 450 may continue to go but in all honesty Align is already looking at a double in market growth and profit since people discovered t-rex 600 and 500 were coming out. Biggest problem here is getting more distributers in canada!!

450 class birds at or a few bucks over the $400 mark (that are really ready to fly - not kits that are missing stuff you really need to fly lol) are a reality and they cost less than just about anything else in the 450 class, can easily compete with the Trex 450, CopterX and HDX 450 series ..and run the same parts. I'm expecting more of them to hit the scene in 2008/2009 for even less money. I guess that really isn't less than a CP cost wise, but ..it's not much more than a CP when you look at what your gettin' and what people usually spend to modify/upgrade the CP's they own. I know of people that are constantly swapping parts on their CP's and easily have dumped $400 in their CP setups to get them flying great.. even some CX2 owners that spend that heheh.. I still can't figure out that line of reasoning lol.

I was actually refering to the esky belt cp not the eflite blade cp (which in my opinion is one of the most over priced heli's on the market). the esky belt cp comes with belt driven tail, brushless set up, separate gyro and esc (no 3in1) and flys pretty damn well in stock configuration. It doesn't compare to a trex or e325 but lets face it, it also costs 1/2 to 1/4 too.

as to the 500 electric or larger (even nitro), I think it's the challenge and the whole fun to tinker with factor. damn it's cool to see something that big that you put together flying. and once you put a scale body on them they are just too cool.

but to each their own, many ppl never get past a co-axial while others go up to turbine heli's.
