Hi Reza,

I'm looking to possibly purchase a YAK 54 - 85" with a ZDZ Super 80 this weekend. My question is: Is this going to be a good set up for the plane. It should be massive power for the plane. I've read the recommended sizes to run in the plane and says 50-80 cc gas. I think the motor weighs in at 4.4 lbs. This sounds like an awsome combination but wanted to make sure there are not going to be any unforeseen problems with this. The plane is already built and owner says it only has 2 flights on it but not by himself. It also has hitec 5955's all the way around. For the money he's asking I can't pass this one up.

Thanks in advance for any input you may be able to provide.

Rob

Actually it say 50-60cc gas....
The 80cc may be to high of a wing loading!...
I would look into the Aero-works quick build Yaks and extra that are made for the 75cc -80 motors....!
Now that would be a awsome setup!....

These will fit that engine and from what I have seen have been great planes!...

The plane will take it, I have a MVVS 58Pro (8.5bhp) in one and its a very good combination, the only problem I envisage with the ZDZ 80 is sufficient ground clearance for the prop that the motor would need, I run a 22x10 three blade, which is just right for the MVVS.

Thanks for the input guys! I did go down to Orlando and puchased the plane. Looks really nice. The guy that built it did put taller landing gear to accomadate the 26x10 prop. However, I got it started yesterday and it had a really bad engine vibration. It has a POS zinger 26x10 prop on it that probably isn't balanced (who in thier right mind flies Zingers on giant scale anyway!?!?). I ordered a new TBM today, hopefully thats all thats wrong. It does have massive power though and should be even better once the vibration is gone. I have to rewire the plane for JR, and for some reason he placed the planes radio switch, and choke inside the canapy. So I'll be reworking that as well. Hopefully I can get a test flight on it this weekend.

Thanks again for the input and I'll post more info once I get a little work time and hopefully some fly time on it.

Ohh, I did'nt know you already had the plane.....
A Dynamically balanced prop will make a big diference in the RPM's and the VIbrations.....
www.downonthedeck.com
has a great video explaining how to balance a prop properly.....
Even if you already know how to; it my give you some pointers....

Good luck
Justin

Watch it with that much power. That engine will pull a 35% plane pretty well. Im not kidding. It pulls my 33% suky to the moon at 24 pounds.

Should be nothing short of a roman rocket!!
