I shouldve known you knew about that tubing, lol. Youre right it is a little soft, with the right bracing and thickness its very strong. Triangles triangles and more triangles, theres no such thing as too stiff a chassis

Status: offline 		i'v just been reading through this thread and i see a lot of people saying that a MIG welder isn't a good choice, i have to say you must all have no idea what your talking about because it is a lot easier to get a nice strong weld with a MIG then stick or TIG (tungsten inert gas welding, not tig the RCU member), sure if you have the skills to use a tTIG on high carbon steels that is the way to go, but otherwise i recommend a MIG welder, stick is also a good choice, ESAB low hydrogen general purpose electrodes are a pleasure to weld with and stick is cheap because you don't need fluxcore wire or inert gas like MIG, or inert gas as with TIG.

im just starting to MIG weld myself, im ditching the flux core wire and going to run some shielding gas. i did some tubing already with shielding gas at my neighbors (didn't touch the DOM yet TIG ) and its surprisingly very easy with clean welds.

i should be starting mine soon hopefully (trophy truck BABY YEH!)

Status: offline 		yeah mig welding is alot easier and im 15 and i have stick welded and tried to tig......but mig is the easiest.....

I've decided to make a dragster (top fuel) right now, 1/5 scale of course. I figure it will be easier to figure out with the suspension and the drive train.

Hopefully if that goes good, I'll build a stadium truck afterwards.

Right now, I've got most of the full scale plans done and will start making the frame sometime next week. I'll make a thread will pictures once I start building.

Status: offline 		Thank you. Yes the only thing i dident make is the camber rods & rod ends. but if i had the time i could. I made all the stuff for my Beretta and it is a job to do very time comsuming. im all about Detail. thanks again.

Status: offline 		The cars that have aluminum 3 pc rims.The 34 ford, orange funny car the green sprint and the white stadium truck.The green sprint has my fiberglass tank(not the carbon fiber tail tank) it is on a different car) .made hubs to match the rims on the funny car.

Status: offline 		there is one thing you need to watch for with MIG welding though, cold over-roll, you can have a perfect looking weld with no penetration, you gotta either use a flick motion or a circular motion to keep the weld pool on the parent metal and not building on top of itself, certainly though if you know how to TIG weld that is the best way to go, very strong, very clean, and you can listen to the radio while you weld lol (my favorite part about it).

i love the idea of the 1/5 scale drag car, i'v thought about it but i cant get any good engines around here for a good price, mugdy (spelling?) got the idea rolling for me, but i think i mgiht stick with my revo until i can find some 1.5% chrome-molly tubing and a decent engine for a reasonable price.
