I soldered a pc to rc interface this evening. I can now control up to 8 servos from the pc.The interface connects to the buddyport of my Hitec radio. The basic program has only slidebars for servocontrolling. It is programmed in Basic I think. Does anyone know of any routines (in Matlab maybe) for joystick outputs to the paralellport? I would love to be able to have a flight/camera control from the laptop using joystick and whatever else that would be practical. A first step to a RPV system.

Well, the interface itself is a kit that can be bought from Ken Hewitt: http://www.welwyn.demon.co.uk
It costs £8 (he uses PayPal). The kit concists of a pcb and a preprogrammed PIC. On top of that you need some extra components, all listed in the part list.Costed me about $2(you also need a parallel port cable that you can cut in two pieces).
Then its just soldering. The interface runs on 4.8v and the software is very basic. 8 slide bars, one for each channel.
I am in the middle of making a Matlab program where I can use a joystick, the mousepad or simply let a program control the plane (last option should be done togehter with GPS input I think). Anyway,I am not friend with my parallel port yet. I have only succeded in controlling one servo (channel one). If anyone knows about how to program for parallelport com I would like to get inputs here!
