KCRC 424 Pylon Race, Oct. 6th

The Kansas City Radio Control Association (KCRC) is putting on it's first RC Pylon race in nearly 2 decades. 424 on the AMA short course (475') will be the main and only event. So get those 424 racers built and ready to rock and roll...

This event will use the fine CAPS racing equipment which includes timing gear, pylon #1 lights, lap counters, cut judges, start clock, the she-bang. Thank-you for the support CAPS, we hope to add some 2 day races to the CAPS line-up soon. This will be a good start.

We would like to invite everyone in the surrounding areas to come out and join us. If you have any questions about this contest or racing in general, don't hesitate to drop me a line:

seaholm@teamseaholm

KCRC Website:

For more information, please see the attached flyer.

** This is a AMA sanctioned 424 event and the rules will be followed without exception. For a complete set of rules:

Yes it does Mike. You're off the hook for pulling it home. I spoke with Terry last night and have a Plan A and Plan B worked out for the winter...

Should have 2 more 424 pilots registered for your event in the next day or two.

UPDATE:

Last evening we were able to get the course laid out and everything is beginning to come together. Hobbico is sending a donation package for the contest. The KCRC support and excitement about the contest has been tremendous. Guys are building Vipers and starting to get tuned up, so you better bring your A game to this one.

IF YOU INTEND TO ATTEND THIS RACE PLEASE SEND ME YOUR PRE-REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Name:
State:
Club:
Frequency:

This will greatly help us reduce key in time for the matrix Sat. morning. Since my wife Michele will be handling the input, please HELP me ease her burden. The rule at the Seaholm house is, "If mom's not happy, we're not happy".

We will have a pre-registration page built shortly but in the interim, just use e-mail:

seaholm@teamseaholm.com

It's going to be a blast. Get those racers ready and stay tuned for a practice night announcement...

We’re setting at 20 pre-registered pilots for the first KCRC 424 race in 2 decades. That includes 10 local KCRC members that have been tuning up the last 2 weeks at our Friday night practice sessions. All I can say is, y’all better bring you’re A-game to this one…

A slight change in format. 6 rounds will still be flown as advertised.

5 Rounds: Will determine the contest winner
Round 6: Will be an A, B, C, D, E, F, G main. The pilots will be grouped by time. A main will have the 3 fastest, B will have the next 3 fastest, etc.

This should assure each pilot of a tight, lead swapping race, regardless of experience.

We’ll be closing registration at 9:30am, so come on out if you haven’t pre-registered. It’s going to be a blast…

Eddie, give me a call tonight

this was a blast!
Well run race A.J., setting out in the broiling sun wavaing a flag for 6 hours, all the prep work, all the details with all the volunteer staff!
Terrific!
It was good to meet Kansas City folks that are into pylon racing.
the short course was different, especially after running two weeks ago the Witicha 100' 2-pylon course. It had a more professional feel to it with the lights and the colors on the wing and the matrix and such. Seemed short, but I think the skill of handling a plane and finding a good line around the pylons became more evident on the short course.
I am learning from Carl M. how to come tight to #2, and learning from his mistakes how to not cut #3.
Thanks for the lessons, everyone.
Dana from Joplin

Yep, it was a class act, that's for sure! AJ and the rest of the KCRC crew did a great job running the race, it was a great time.

I"m still picking that black CA stuff off my fingers.. I pulled a firewall out on a plane with a "less than perfect" landing (arrival?), also the wing mount block. The plane is about 10-15 years old, an old low wing design. It flew pretty well on the short course!

AJ says that KCRC has had so much fun with this, they want to do two races next summer! I know I'll be planning on being there.

It was a great race. The Williams crew all had a great time. AJ, thanks for finding Alex a spot to help. For those that do not know Alex, he was the 12 year old that managed the start clock out on the line. I think maybe he was bitten by the bug along with some others. While in the car with him today, he said "Dad, I think if I'm going to race quickies I need to start flying my trainer at full throtle". Enough said. Even Alex had a great time.

Thanks again.

Robert

Alex was great! He did a great job of making sure we all put our airplanes down in the right spot, and knew which flag to take off with.

Better start saving up now, sounds like there's more quickees and engines in your future...

Eddie,
I'm fighting my addiction, don't know how much longer I can hold out...
Yeah, the q40 looks good!
From what I hear, they are even more of a rush than the Q500.
I haven't hardly learned to drive a Viper, much less a Miss Ashley!
Might be fun to learn though.
A.J. and Scott, I have you to blame if this addiction continues!
Eddie's a bad influence on my wallet, and I can see how you've "helped" him.
Help!
Dana from Joplin.
